Sinai,
Sounds like you guys are due for the DSM2 revolution. Then you don't have to worry about any channels.
If you don't have it in your budget for that right now, you could order some different crystals pretty cheap. Either way, you could all fly at the same time.

Hey Sinai,

I'm switching my cub over to 2.4g this week. You can have my old stock TX and RC if you like. They're channel 4.

Freakin Awesome... Hey thanks! I could put it to use. Hey, If you're in Sacramento this weekend, you can catch the airshow for free right off I 50 at Zinfandel exit. The thunderbirds make U-turns right over your head there. Did it last year. Might go get tickets this year though.

I am so ready for the DSM2 Revolution. I'm holding out for Santa (if i can't work something out for my B-day). lol

Cool, I usually get good pictures of them practicing during lunch.

I'll probably pull the electronics tonight. I'll put them in my car and we can hand them over whenever you want.

So I made the switch over tonight.....
First thing I did was plug all the servos and esc into the receiver backwards. Yeah, that doesn't work.
Then I plugged them in correctly and ......elevator works! Motor turns! Rudder? Rudder? Nothing.
Pull the plug, jiggle stuff around...nothing.

Oh wait....that moves with the LEFT stick now. Hey, it works!

Tomorrow I put the servos in the new wing for the ailerons.

A cub with ailerons is a great conversion. Converted my cub to lipo, brushless and ailerons a year ago and it made it an even more fantastic plane. Took a lot of abuse having to fly in cow pastures and out of the way gravel roads. I have since moved to other planes that have ailerons and purchased a new wing and fuselage and went back to non-ailerons, stock except for the brushless motor and lipo setup. I still think its the best flying trainer plane out there. Crash it, add some Gorilla Glue here and there and your back flying again.

Hmmmm...a few more photos from tonight. Not as nice.
Lost signal and nosed in. Not sure yet why I lost signal. Could be a problem with the TX, or could have been a bad solder.

The firewall is caved too. It's time for a new fuse anyway. The horizontal stab has been loose for a while now.

She has been reborn. Just need the window stickers. Took her out tonight. Learned a couple things - TX/RX seem to work. Tried an extended range test without any trouble. Might have been a bad solder - I am pretty terrible with the iron.

The other thing I learned is that I need practice flying with 4 channels before I'm safe to fly in that much of a breeze. My left hand is pretty dumb right now.

gws,
Instead of worrying about the stickers. Just get your magic marker out and go to town. You can even add some extra designs.
I am no artist, I got a new wing for an old Cessna 210 and didn't have the stickers, so this is what I did. (pics below)

I am very jealous about the Fly Giants Huckfest. That had to be AWESOME!! I haven't ever seen any RC model that big in real life[]

Hey Belemnoid, Wheelnut's suggestion about markers is a thought,no weight and any design you want....[8D]
