Slow Stick - Tail Heavy POS??
Santa brought a Slow Stick to my son. There seems to be no way of balancing it other than using my Zagi packs and putting them in front of the wing right in back of the motor. It's flyable like that but it sure seems to be awfully heavy for a foam plane. I bought the recommended flight pack from Horizon when I ordered it but the "Mini" GWS servo's are dang near standard size.
It also doesn't like to turn left well despite big throws on the rudder.
I've read great things about these SS's but ours isn't worth a hoot. Anyone else feel this way? Any suggestions? :stupid: :stupid: :stupid:

I have been flying the GWS SS for a few months and it flys like a dream. It does tend to be tail heavy if you follow the assembly instructions exactly. Try moving the battery pack as far forward on the plane as you can. I have mine in front on the wing and it is actually mounted right behind the motor and greabox. As far as the left turn, make sure that the tail rudder has freedom of movement in both directions. I had to trim foan out of the joint on mine to achieve this. Also. check your trim on your transmitter.
I hope this helps,
Mike

There are hours of reading on the SS both here and on E-zone. Do a search and you will be up all night!
The SS is a bit CG sensitive. It also seems a bit under-powered for those that haven't flown rubber power.
Move those servos as far forward as possible. You might have to move the wing back or the battery forward or (I can't believe I'm saying this) add lead to the nose.

What batteries are you using? The 7.2 volt packs don't give much climbing power. I haven't had a CG problem though, mine's a bit front of where the instructions say to have it. If you want some more front weight get rid of those plastic wheels that are going to break the first time you have a hard landing and put some foam ones on. Just got back from the flying it in the park in fact.

And time that motor! Too many people forget or ignore that advice. It makes a sustantial difference. Lots of info on that out there as well. Just be careful, some motors are stubborn and their end bells don't want to move... but many move freely without any special fancy tools.

If you want the small servo's GWS calls them pico , I made the mistake of getting MINI's too and they are close to standard size..Rog
Man are we spoiled today... Here is a CS10 next to a "standard" Futaba of just 10 years ago.
OBTW the CS10 is 4g, the "standard" is 50g! That's more than the whole flight pack in my SS which has the JR 700 (standard) Rx and two mini JR servos.
