Default Firebird XL or T Hawk for a Beginner

Hi, im new to this hobby and im looking into buying a Firebird XL or a T Hawk and was wondering which one would i be better off getting. I dont know that much about the T Hawk but the Firebird XL sells for $119.99 at www.parkflyers.com and it comes ready to fly with an instructional video with flying tips. Im looking for a park flyer thats comes ready to fly out the box and is easy to fly but not to easy were its takes much longer to pick up on usefull flying skills. I want an airplane were i can learn the basics without being left without a plane after the first crash, just something to learn on befour i move up to a plane like the Viper Twin.
Thanks.

I'd buy the T-Hawk over the XL. The T-Hawk is 3 channel (has elevators so you can control pitch, the XL uses the amount of throttle to climb). The T-Hawk has on/off throttle though using it's radio. If you like it though you can buy a radio and receiver and use the T-Hawk with that and have proportional throttle. You can also replace the servos with other brands. The XL is all sealed up. If a servo goes out you have to buy a the whole fuselage.

I would have to agree with BillK, go with the T Hawk. I like and own the skyscooter but if this is going to be your first plane go with the hawk. From what i've heard it's a very sturdy bird and will survive almost anything. Then move up to the sky scooter.

Thanks for all the replys, im going to order the T Hawk. It's about the same price as the Firebird XL and from what im reading the T Hawk comes with spare parts so if i damage my plane in a crash, i could have it back up in the air very soon.

Sky Scooter Pro; sweet!
T-Hawk; not as sweet but better than the Firebird.

Guys,

I am not even a newbie yet...no plane.

Wouldn't an elevator make it harder to learn to fly? The Firebird only has proportional thotle and tail flaps. Sounds like that would be easier to control. No?

Easier to fly by a bit I guess. Having the elevator makes landing the plane where you want it a lot easier. I had a Firebird 2 for a while, had fun with it, but got really bored with it within a few weeks. Having an elevator like the Thawk and Aerobird lets you learn a flying skill you'll need anyways in future planes.
