New flyer from an old favorite. RIP A-10
Here's what I came up with when deciding what to do with my old A-10 wing. The poor old girls' fuselage came to an untimely death with of all things an ESC malfunction. The wing which I had reinforced with CF came through with but a few dings and dents. I took a cooler chest, the type that perishable foods are shipped across country, very good foam by the way, and cut it up and glued up a block ~ 3.5" X 4.5" X 35" and drew up a fuselage design Roughly based on the porportions of a Multiplex twin star II. Cut and shaped, and here is what we now have. She's got some cheapie 400XT outrunners, and 18amp cheapie Hi-Model ESCs. The servos are GWS NARO for the ailerons & HS-55s for the elevator and steerable nose wheel. Electron-6 Rx & a cheapie dymond 1800mah, 3cell, 12c LiPo battery swinging MAS 6X4 3 blade props. (I have 7X5 3 balde props ordered as she's a bit sluggish to lift off). What a fun project using up old stuff laying around and having it actually fly! Everything but the wing designed and built using the TLAR method. Happy flying!!

RE: New flyer from an old favorite. RIP A-10
Thanks all for the kind words of encouragement. It turned out to be a really fun project. In referance to the cheapie ESCs, the ESC on the A-10 was a CC P-25. Not usually considered a cheapie. But in all fairness, I think the ESCs problem may have stemmed from a motor malfunction, possibly a thrown magnet, but I can't prove it, but the motor no longer works though. It did show signs of excessive heat where as the other ESC, located in the same ventalited space did not. The plane had well over 100 trouble free flights. CC ESCs are almost bullet proof & I use them in several planes. Stuff happens in this hobby and sometimes components fail. I would endorse and continue to purchase CC products as I think they are top notch. It's just the nature of the beast. Thanks for checking out the thread.
