sr batteries x250
I have this plane built stock and its a dog. Any suggestions on change in motor to get more out of it? It has a cheapo 6v speed 400 in it now. Just go to a speed 480 or is there a brushless engine that will do better? I would like to keep it under 100 bucks.
Thanks

The stock 400 motor is as 7.2V version, tied to a 2.5:1 gearbox. I changed out the 7.2V to a regular Speed 400 6V, also changed to a 1100 eight cell NiCad pack. Definitely helped in duration and slightly higher performance.

I also built the X250 and I bought everything from SR Batteries-recommended motor, gearbox, prop, 2 sets of batteries. I built it as a taildragger and it weighs 21 ounces. Mine will even take off from grass, climbs very well, loops, vertical reversals, t&g's, and stays up for more than 8 minutes (summer). The motor is a Graupner, as is gearbox and prop (9x5) and is has a Jeti ESC. I used an FMA rcvr, 2 s60 servos, and one Hitec S80. I've got more than 80 flights on it and am very satisfied.
