Great Planes RV-4 EP build thread!
Hi all, finished up my gp tutor, and after an estarter inbetween, I'm onto the rv-4.(I got the gws estarter and rv-4 for christmas!). This build is going to be a little bigger, considering that it's a 400 size plane. The main difference though, is how wide the fuselage is, compared to the gp tutor. The total weight is around 18-22 ounces. I have the gp 400 motor with the gp 4.1:1 gearbox, and plan to run it with a 3 cell 1250 lipo hooked up to a gws 480 lipo esc. When I opened it, the first thing popped in my head was how much balsa there was! Then the canopy(which is not pictured, have to take a new one) is huge. The balsa/wood is in great condition, and the laser cutting is very nice, nothing wrong there, heck, half of the pieces were falling out! This build should take 1 to 2 months, depending on how much homework and dedecation I have. I plan on flying this one after some major time on the tutor and estarter, and maybe some club nitro trainers at the field. Heres some pics of the kit, feel free to ask questions or comment, thanks, Joe

RE: Great Planes RV-4 EP build thread!
I had a slow stick last year, then moved to a nitro plane, never flew it, and sold it because of dire need of moped parts. I wanted to get started back in, and loved to build, so I got the tutor kit, and built it, and got an estarter and this rv-4 for christmas. So, I could say I'm just building for now, but in a month or so, I'll be flying the tutor, then the estarter, then the rv-4. What projects do you have? I can delay the rv-4, considering I'll need extensive time on the estarter. Maybe I'll take a few off your hands, well, then return them back to you. thanks, joe

RE: Great Planes RV-4 EP build thread!
Hi all, finished up the tail end, and now working on the wing, which is going together quite quickly. One thing that I found though, was the "w-1" ribs(the 2 closest to the inside) have a half cut through slit in them, so when you cut out the dihedral brace slits, it will be easier. Well, those must have falled out, so now I had two pieces of one rib. I taped them back together, and will remove the tape when nessasary. Other than that, it was smooth sailing. thanks, Joe

I guess I don't really want to hand over any unfinished projects. Then I would have more wall space and might have to buy a few paintings to fill the empty space. Not practical in my view. Keep building though. I found the more planes you have, the less you care when one crashes!

hey all, its been slow, but I got farther on the left wing. The sheeting came out pretty good, better than the tutor. Thanks, Joe.

Heres the thread with pics of the completed plane, it turned out awsome, and flys very nice.

I also started another thread on another wing I built that had larger alierons and less dihedral. Heres that thread:

Thanks for your interest. If you have any other questions please ask, I'm still flying it with no fatalities. Joe
