Firebird II
I recieved a couple of Firebird II planes today due to the generosity of a fellow RC modeler who was giving them away. The stipulation though was that they had to go to someone who had a son or daughter that was wanting to learn to fly and did not yet have a plane. I told him I had a son the was and so I was just wondering if any of you had flown one and what recomendations you have about the plane for best results. ANy help would be apreciated.

Firebirds are excellent planes to take to the park and have fun with! Really easy to fly and lots of fun for messing around with.
However, they act a LOT different than "real" RC planes and make lousy trainers. Don't expect them to teach you how to really Fly or be a "stepping stone" for getting into radio control.

My kids can fly them really well 10 + 12. They transitioned from a wattage lightining. I had to move the pull lines to the lowest hold to increase the throw, which made them a lot more agile. They are more RC car like than Plane like, but since my kids did not know any better they took to them pretty quick. We are moving on to an ACE grasshopper and a Moutain Models Dusk Stick and even getting Mom into the act!
