RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan
I switched to the 10x7x3 prop and love it. Slower, but more power. I had a slight balance issue, but nothing severe. Never had any problems with this prop, even though the tips are a bit worn from contact witht the ground.

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan
Just got a eflight power10 for my parkzone corsair and am looking for the best props to try. Want to know what the advantage of the 3 blade is? Which ones should I try? I like power and need it to get OUT of trouble. Currently the stock power seems too slow for me. I run a 3cell 2200 battery and purchaced a watt metter. What should I be looking for? I know the amps have to stay under the 30 amp ese but am confused about the watts? Will a higher C rating battery do anything for me, say a 20 up to a 35?

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan
Hey Carlos, your Trojan is looking good! Ain't it nice we don't have to deal with snow. LOL
Balancing a 3 blade is a little tricky. I put em on the balancer, mark each blade with a number so I can keep track of them.
Point blade #1 straight up. See if/which way it want's to turn and how fast it does so.
Repeat same thing with blade #2 and then blade #3.
Compare each to see where you need to add weight. Often it will be two of the blades that need done. I use clear spray paint on the back of the blades as it's easy to use, can be removed easily, and stays on better then tape. Plus it's invisible.
Anywho, found a neat hinging method for flaps last night. Instead of tape or using CA or pin style I found a set of gear door hinges in my stash.
Gave me perfect split flaps, and no need to angle cut the flap. The hinges push the flaps back slightly and then drop them. Leaving a gap between the flap LE and the wing TE.
And with only using half throw on the servos I can get 90 degrees of flap deployment.

Glacier Girl,
Thanks for those kind words on my #2 Park Zone T-28 "Airforce" Trojan! As a matter of fact, I bought it from someone that lives in your part of the woods "Lakeland"
Saturday morning is going to be real nice weather conditions, enjoy!

Hello all,
SO the prop 10x7x3 gives you more power but less speed? Am I right? Also for th emotor, how about a Turnigy 35-42A? Would that work and give a lot more power? It's a 1450 Kv.
Thanks!

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan
This is my old Parkzone Trojan T-28.
It has now been modded with the motor of the parkzone Extra 300 and with the prop of the Extra 300.
The extra speed is very nice as it seemed to be 30 to 40% faster then the stock trojan motor.
The only downside is that flighttime is reduced in half for me now.
With a 3 cell 2200mah lipo i can fly about 4 minutes at full throttle now where as with the stock motor and prop i could do a good 8 minutes.
But ohwell i prefer 4 minutes of good speed now with this plane.
I really enjoyed flying it today and did a good 6 flights with it.
Its a Trojan on steriods now hehe

This 3-blade guy, here?:
http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...rodID=MAS1070T
I'm so wanting to pull the trigger on the T-28 and am waiting for a discount email from HH. Would you add this prop to the order? I bet that's a yes, but what sayyou?
Godspeed!

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan
Hi folks, I originally posted this in the General Discussion section, but now that I have found this thread, I think it is a better place.
I flew my new Parkzone T-28 Trojan (Air Force version) today for the first time. I am happy to say that even though this is my first 4 ch plane (my first plane is a Hobbyzone Super Cub) I managed two flights without crashing. It keeps me on my toes, and I'm glad I flew this before the Parkzone F4F.
Idid notice however that the gray tape that covers the wires on the bottom of the wings is coming off and tearing in some places. Is there a special tape for this application? What are you folks that fly this plane, or planes like it, using to replace the factory installed tape if it comes off?
Thanks for any info.
Jim

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan
Hey guys, I'm the proud new owner of one of the Original T-28 Trojans. I traded my Wildcat for one. It was pretty beat up but came with new fuse, cowl and extra parts and extra wing which only has one ding.
I test flew it at the field when we traded and it flew well, all except for the very loose wing. That shouldn't be a problem when I put the new fuse together with the good wing.
Either the motor shaft or the prop adapter is bent. I will take it apart soon to see which it is.
I was thinking of mildly upgrading the motor but keeping the stock esc. I was thinking of this motor, what do you guys think?

Topher39, I'm interested in one of those T-shirts

Hey, Wheelnut! What's shakin'? Oh, a prop shaft. Bummer. Here's the factory sheet info on your new bird, for compatibility :
http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...475#quickSpecs
Whatever you do I know she'll fly. I gotta get me one, too, but I need more training time with my new Supercub and my micro T-28 before hand. I'll just have to suffertill then.
Enjoy your new bird and.......Godspeed!

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan
Hello Everyone. I have been lurking for a long time, but decided to join in. I recently picked up a T28 ( I have been flying the micros and a Supercub). After a couple of serious crashes, I now have this T28 Flying perfect. I started using it with a DX4e and a cheap orange rx, Had some serious range problems with it so I invested in a DX5e and a Spektrum 6210! No Problems now. I love this plane, I find it much easier to fly than the Supercub - More power, more control, much less wind effect. I have about 10 perfect flights under my belt now. I have attached a photo. I repainted it in order to cover up some of the initial crash damage repairs, and put larger wheels on it. The wheels look a little corny, but they work far better than the stock wheels.
Question: I have been using 30C 2200 Lipos and fly at around 50% throttle for 10 minutes, (Power 10 motor). The batteries still have about 11.3 left over after this time. Aproximately how many more minutes of flying time can I get before the Low Voltage cutoff? Another couple of minutes?

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan
chassumner1,
I think the paint job looks great. I like the red white and blue.
I didn't even know they had a 4e until you mentioned it. I started out with a 5e, moved up to a 6i and now I fly with the 7. I use orange rxs with no problem. Even in my skyfun jet.
I thought LVC was at 11.4V maybe I was wrong. You can use an esc program card to set up those parameters the way you want them.
I recently traded a Wildcat for the T-28. I completely rebuilt it with new fuse, wing, servos, upgraded wheels and servo mount and Eflite 480 1020kv with 11X7 prop, took it out for a maiden and a few seconds after take off, I flew it between me and the sun and I lost orientation and crashed. Little damage under repair now.

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan
Welcome to the thread.
I wouldn't want to hit LVC in flight. It can damage the batteries by reducing their reliability and shortening their useful service life.
I stripped the gears on one one the OE PZ stock aileron servos on my PZT28B yesterday afternoon upon completion of it's 222nd sortie. I discovered it during a post-flight inspection after I noticed the control surface was out of position.
Oh well, I've got a few HS55s in stock.
Strange as in June I had to change out both OE stock PZ aileron servos on my stock PZ Bf109G which has a total of 57 sorties.

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan
The Dx4e Came in the package with the Supercub. It is probably just as good as the DX5e. But when I was at the LHS the other day, I saw that the Pheonix Simulator was being sold with the Dx5e for around $135.00. So I picked it up. I have been using Realflight Basic for the last year, but Pheonix is a 1000% better. Now the Dx4e is bound to the Supercub and the Dx5e is used for the Trojan. The Spektrum 6210 Rx was the difference. It was a little spendy for me ($80), but the duel freq security and range is well worth it and give me peace of mind when flying!

Maxheadspeed, it won't damage the batteries if you have your LVC in the esc set high
Chassumner1, what is Realflight basic? I have the G4.5 and love it. I wish I could upgrade to G5 but I can't afford it right now.

Real Flight Basic is just that Basic. No upgrades, no frills, no games or anything, you can only control wind speed and direction (steady).I think I paid about $200.00 for it. It was okay to learn on. The Pheonix is much better, fun, different things to do, many more models, and always can download stuff.

I don't want to turn this into a debate on the wrong thread, but I have downloaded many planes and fields for free for Realflight. It's all available from Knifeedge.com

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan
True. If set to LVC is set to a level adequate enough to protect the battery for getting damaged.
Using LVC instead of an actual alarm/ timer function to monitor flight time can lead to problems if your plane is in a bad position in relation to where you need to be in order to land, and/or need to go around after an aborted landing attempt.
I know that they make an 'ON BOARD' audio LVC alarm, but that doesn't effect the flight systems like the ESC's LVC functions do by interrupting power to the motor
Hey, to each his own. It's up to the individual on what, were, when, how, and why they do what they do, BUT to do so in a SAFE and Controlled manner.
About that aileron servo that I said went bad on my T28B.
It didn't have any gear damage, but it did have a split arm cause slippage where it splines onto the output shaft.
So, I just replaced the arm with one from another PZ stock servo from my PZ Bf109G that crapped-out a couple of weeks ago, glued them back into the wing, and it is once again ready for for it's 223rd CAP/Joy Ride.

I am putting the finishing touches on the repaint of my Trojan. I like the colors and it should be a bit easier to see in the air. I used Testors spray paint and Callie Graphics decals.
