True Airhogs story...
I bought one of those Airhogs Skywinder stunt planes on E-bay a few months ago.
I always wanted to try one, it did loop, but was super slow, and ran out of steam early.
Turns out, my plane was subject to the recall, so I sent in the tail, and charger port, and guess what they sent me......
One airhogs red Aeroace bipe, and one green Sportflier single-wing Aeroace!!
Greatest deal going!!!
The Bipe required the same mods my other bipe needed, two thumbtacks on the nose, and a little down angle on the elevators, and the sport flier needed just two thumbtacks to fly flawlessly!! Great airplane!!
I have to say that Spinmaster has excellent customer relations, I had a Titan a few years back, and they went above and beyond to help me with that plane, which was a great flier, until the batteries gave out!
On the strength of this, I bought an Acro-jet this weekend, and turns out, it is an awesome flier, with a few mods...
Mod #!, add two thumbtacks to the nose... ; )
Mod #2, I added elevators to the tail by cutting two 3/8" slits on each horozontal, and bending them down slightly,
I hear that some people add stiffeners to the wings, I just apply the decals, which does the same thing, my wings are very stiff! I did put the canard and tail decals on the underside, for better visibility.
The result is that the plane is faster than the sport flier, and turns just as good!
Off throttle, it is a little more squirilly (the sport flier runs a laser-straight 5 degree tragectory to the ground off throttle!) but it climbs nicely at 1/2 throttle!
The sport flier will hold altitude easily at max throttle while turning, something the acro-jet has trouble doing, but the acro is better in light winds, where the sport flier will fly away with great haste!! My sport flier is somewhat range limited, but this keeps me from letting it get too far away! The sport flier is a lift machine!
My last conversation with the fine folks at Spinmaster told me that they have a neat new product coming out before Xmas, I can't wait to see what they will do next!
Hope this helps...
Chris
