GWS help
Hi guys, I just purchased a GWS Zero. Anyway, I started to cut the rudder from the plane with an exacto blade. The foam seemed uneven, rough, and you could see little uneven balls of foam sticking out when I was done. What I am woundering is do I sand this or what? Please help.

If the foam starts to crumble, it's also a sign that you need to use a sharper blade and/or use a sawing action with just a little pressure - best bet still is to have new, sharp blades.

I just got done building a plane using Depron foam and it's so much nicer than that beaded foam used in the Zero. I hated working with it. It does sand up good though.

GWS help
Mike,
I realise it's probably a bit late now but did you even need to cut out the rudder in the first place? My Zero flies and handles just fine with no rudder control. I never cut that bit out and have saved the weight (and cost) of the servo. One thing you should no is that the manual for the Zero is wrong about where to located the CG (you may alredy know this?). It should actually balanace at about 45-48mm on the "bamboo stick" that's in the wing. If you put the balance as far back as the book says you'll find the thing virtually un-flyable. This was another reason I didn't fit a rudder as it would have meant more weight towards the back and might have even meant having to add weight to the nose to bring the CG to the right place!
