Am new to electric flight, what does" ROG" mean?
Am building great planes electrifly cub, was given kysyohso car motor (?) info on case sez 27 turns winding. Also have MJ 3.33:1 gear box be used with motor Is this an okay combo to power plane with??
Also lookiing for suggestions as to batt pack volatge, mah rating of batts for reasonable flight time.
Mucho thanks to all that reply to my questions,
Gary Smith

I'm not 100% sure, but I'd think that motor is much too heavy for an electric plane. But I suppose that depends on how big the plane is.
Also, a 27T motor probably wouldn't have enough torque to turn a prop on a plane as big as one for a motor that size would need to be.

ROG = Rise off ground
A stock 27 turn motor might fly the plane direct drive with about an 8 x 4 prop on 7 cells. BTW a stock car motor is actually slightly lighter than the recommended Speed 600.
Generally geared works best but that motor is not really powerful enough to use with a high ratio box like the one you have. You'd be much better with a lower turn motor like the Magnetic Mayhem (22 turn) or even one of the 17 or 19 turn modifieds.
But if you want to keep it simple try it first without the gearbox on 7 cells. If it doesn't fly very well you'll need to rethink.
