Default Brushless motor comparison

Hi all,

I have an airplane that uses a Hacker B-20 18L, 4:1 gearbox and APC-E 10x4.7. I would like to know, what other electric brushless motors are a comparable swap for the B-20 18L or 15L and 22L.

Thank you

Default Hacker substitute

Since the Hacker 20 series are designed as brushless alternatives for 400 motors there are several options available. The new MP Jet 25/35-20 (geared 5:1) would be a cheap, yet well-built and beautifully smooth running replacement for a Hacker. I have done some testing on mine and, using 8-cell 17700 NiMH, found it will swing a 10x7 Aeronaut at 5300rpm @ 8amps (73W with 13.5oz thrust) - if you wring it out it will, momentarily, pull 6200rpm @ 13.6amps (120W with 19.4oz thrust - but its life-span would be measured in seconds!). It swings a 9.5x6 Aeronaut at 6900rpm at 11.3amps (104W with 16.2oz thrust), and tops out with an 11x5.5 APC E pulling 6150rpm @13.4amps (117W with 22.0oz thrust).

The Plettenberg Freestyle series, some of the Mega motor series and some of the Aveox motors are other brushless Hacker B20 look alikes.

Cheers, Phil

You might want to check out the new Razor 2500. I have read it is a drop in replacement for the Hacker. LeRoy
