Hello, I just picked up an Eagle from Hobby Lobby. This is the milder version of their Cobra. Have the fuselage mostly complete at this time. Also, I've read Ezone and RCU's reviews on this plane. It seems like a real quality plane. I like the landing gear especially--real foam wheels and a very cool tailwheel.
Anyone have any additional tips or tricks? How about batteries?
I'm really thinking about Li-polys but I don't have the right charger, etc.

I just finished my Eagle( my first kit). I used the ironon tape provied for the ailerons and It was not a good idea to do that. It caused the foam to warp and it didn't stick well to the epp foam. I ended up removing it and used vinyl repair tape( for fixing vinyl seats, from auto parts store) 1 1/2" wide and it worked great. I still ended up gluing it to the epp foam. also the stickers don't stick well to the epp foam so I used white glue to the stickers and they stayed on great. I also replaced the gear box with MP Jet Speed 300, 4.5:1, Ball-bearing gearbox and 10x7 prop ( as recomended it the ezone review) which works great. The original gear box lasted one crash. This is my first aileron plane and it took a bit of ajusting the EPA and dual rates to fly good for me. With the large control surfaces it is VERY responsive (too much for a beginer ) and had to adjust them way down. Now the plane flys great. Took it to the LHS and the owner flew it (checking my set up) there was some pretty stong winds and it handled it great.

Hello,
I'm using a JR421 on this plane as a 4 channel setup with a "Y" harness for the ailerons. Works great. Go on to Hobby Lobby's site and click on the "Eagle" thumbnail. They should be in stock. That's where I got mine. Dave

I didn't check the site before I replied. It appears they are out of stock 'till July. When I ordered mine, a couple months ago?, they where in stock. In fact, I originally wanted the Cobra. It was out of stock so I got the Eagle. I really like it and I still may order the Cobra later. The servos pretty much just pop in and stay there. I used a couple drops of foam safe CA to hold them in. I believe the kit gives you little platic "nails" that you use instead of screws and CA those in place.

Yes, I used white glue for the decals.
Another thing that I've done lately is to completely remove the tape for the aileron hinge and use 3 plastic hinges on each wing half. I used thick, foam safe CA to attach the hinges. It works very well. The tape used to peel up where the control rod was. No more problems.

To apply decals on EPP foam, you need to first "prime" the foam with something that'll stick to it. I've used contact cement, and white glue also sticks to EPP foam. Just spread some contract cement or white glue over the area that you want tape/stickers/etc. to stick to, and let it cure. Just be careful with the contact cement; you need to get it exactly where the sticker/tape/etc. will go, or you'll see it in all its icky brown goodness...

ok umm do you have to cut out holes for the servos? in the pic in hobby lobby it shows the body and it looks like you have to make holes and glue them in im not sure if i want to do that becuz what if you crash or something else happends and you have to remove the radio stuff and then you got foam stuck to you servos so i might just use some of this servo tape for a small heli i own i wonder if id have to glue that in lol =/

Hello, The holes for the servos are already there. They give you these little plastic nails that you can CA into the foam to secure the servos. Hot glue is another great alternative. This stuff peels off the plastic servo cases easily with your thumbnail. White glue might even work well. Just get the plane

They'll still take your money and when it comes in they'll ship it.
That way you get the plane for sure. There are probably already people on the list for the next shipment. Have Fun
