Default What battery for E-starter?

Hi guys. I was flying .40 to .60 powered planes about 6 years ago and recently decided to get back in the hobby with park flyers. I picked up an E-starter and esc while I was at the hobby shop. I was just wondering what typ of battery I should use? I built it without the landing gear because I fly from grass feilds.

I am using the GWS 7.2V / 350 mAh battery - I haven't timed my flights, but I would say 3 - 4 minutes or so is typical. I would go with a 8.4 volt nimh pack if I had to do it over again though - it doesn't climb out as well as I would like, and longer flights would be nice...

I have the E Starter and I am in the process of assembly. I am having a problem fiiguring out how the wing struts are assembled. Did you have a problem with them?

7 or 8 cel AAA or 5/4 AAA packs work rather well, no battery compartment mods required. Best stock setup imo is:

* Re-time the motor
* 9x7 prop
* 8 cell 5/4 AAA pack

Default What battery for E-starter?

Hi,
I to have an E-Starter. I first started flying it with a 7.2v 270 mah battery and it flew okay, but it didn't seem to have the power to do loops, so I threw in my 8.4v 600mah AAA style pack (which fits perfectly) and I also put on a 1180 prop instead of the stock 1080 and now it can do back loops, and aileron rolls!!
The struts still seem to be a problem for me, they just don't seem to stay on!! I tried shortening them but that didn't work, neither did scotch tape!!
Other than the strut thing I love my E-Starter, and I hope you guys do to!!
Blue Skies!!!

I use a rubber band on each strut, stretched between the wing and the fuselage, attached where the struts attach. Doesn't look too bad, and provides enough pull to keep the struts from popping out. Now they only come off when I crash

My two E-Starters fly with 8 cell AAA 9.6v 720mah packs. Get about 5-6min flights with good power. I also enlarged the battery compartment on my second E-Starter and use a 10 cell 12v 720mah AAA pack which gives me around an 8min flight and really good power. I got them at Aeromicro.com

I get about 10 min of flight with my set up. The 1180 prop makes a big difference!

I'm using a GWS 6 cell 600 nicad and a GWS 7 cell 730 nimh and get about 10-13 mins with throttle management. Loads of power too!
