Default need help with prop selection

i have a mouse with a gws 150 size motor and D gearbox.
it is running on 8 300 mah nicads .
it currently has a 10x4.7 prop on it, i feel that i need to go for a bigger diameter, what do you all think.
it flies okay at the moment but i want vertical performance on a budget.
AUW of this model is about (guessing) 6 0z
thanks in advance for your help
dan

Default 150 =?IPS-D

Pardon my ignorance, but is a 150 in the UK what we call a GWS IPS motor in the US?

If it is, then here are some specs from the balsapr.com catalog, which would suggest that you definitely need a larger prop than a 10x4.7. I hope the formatting stays where it is, but go to Balsa Products website if it is rendered unreadable.

IPS-D Indoor Power System (IPS-DX2BB-DXCS)

Prop V A g oz g/W
EP1260 6.0 0.92 93 5.52 16.85
EP1260 7.2 1.24 131 8.92 14.67
EP1280 6.0 1.12 104 6.72 15.48
EP1280 7.2 1.50 146 10.80 13.52
EP1365 6.0 1.08 112 6.48 17.28
EP1365 7.2 1.46 152 10.51 14.46

Weight: 29.92 grams
Gear ratio: 9.66
Indoor Power System Parts Schematic
All our IPS power systems and replacement motors have carbon brushes. Running your IPS motor above 11 watts you will need a heat sink. You will greatly decrease the IPS motor life on 8.4V or 9.6V.
CAUTION: Using a larger than recommended propeller and/or higher voltage battery may cause permanent damage to this motor. Balsa Products assumes no responsibility for the improper use and installation of this product.

Recommended Propellers:

12 x 6 Orange Electric Propeller (EP-1260)
12 x 8 Orange Electric Propeller (EP-1280)
13 x 6 1/2 Orange Electric Propeller (EP-1365)

Recommended Batteries:

NiCAD 6.0V - 110ma Sanyo
NiCAD 7.2V - 110ma Sanyo
NiMH 7.2V - 280mAh Teig

Hope this helps, Cheers, Phil
