Flew the Wingo for the first time today and very disappointed. It had the recommended geared prop and a 600mAH 7 cell Nicad pack. Any advice????????

With the gear drive it should fly well. I fly mine on 8 cells and am the former/reining HL Wingo Pylon Racing Champ.
If you use an 8x600 or 8x1100..... you'll see a major difference. You might also want to check to see if the CG is in the proper location.

The setup that you have should be fine. One thing to check is whether the prop is on in the right direction. Props will fly a model when on backwards, but not very well.

I had some stick time on my TM, and when I tried out my new Soarstar it scared the bee jeebers out of me. Climbs out at 30 degrees with no problem, floats power off f o r e v e r, but you put the coals to her and she moves! In addition, to say it's "nimble" in the air is an understatement! No wonder they use these for pylon races all the time. I had no idea a plane that large and goofy looking could twist and turn like that.
Check to see the prop is on correctly, and I'm using the recommended 9.6V pack in mine. Once I get a handle on it, I'm going to use it as my camera plane.
But e-bird is right- it may be ugly, but Wingo/Soarstars are flying son-of-a guns!

Are you use to flying glow? Almost all of the parkflyers will seem slow to glow.
I agree with what has been said. Add a cell, and check the prop. It will fly with it on backwards, just not well.

My geared Wingo hauls the mail. I'm using 9x700 NiMh packs, mainly because that's what I have with the right connector on them. Just have to go easy on the throttle as both cells and motor will get hot with extended high power settings.
It lofts large payloads with ease. I used to use it for a Pencam with batteries and a servo to activate it. I've since lost the batts and servo with the installation of a RC Cam Man switch.
When flown "empty" it a regular powered glider. Zips up to altitude in no time and plenty of glide time with the prop stopped.

Not sure about the GB I have, it's the one HL sells for the Wingo. Running an APC 8x6 prop and Jeti ESC with brake.
For anybody considering a Wingo, it's a VERY high-quality kit (as far a foam planes go). The packaging and directions were excellent. I would think you would want the gearbox though.
