New spad in need of motor
I am ordering the new GP [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=001510554&I=LXVTD5&P=K]Spad[/link] and it says to use this motor -> http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXLWT6&P=M
I was wondering if there were good motors for less money, and where I could get them that would be equivalent or even more powerful. I am using the recommended electrifly 25A esc.
Not sure how to find the sizes on motors on hobbycity or other sites.

RE: New spad in need of motor
Brett, The Spad XIII is an awesome looking plane. There is a thread here: http://www.wattflyer.com/forums/show...t=35420&page=6 discussing it with a guy who just got a motor from hobby city.
The recommended Rimfire is a 28-30 950, which means 28mm diameter, 30 length and 950 kv speed. Just go to hobbycity and click on outrunners then troll through the pages. Here is one: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...less_Outrunner It's 100 rpm faster, but should work.
A weird thing about the rimfire is that it is a three hole mount. Almost all others are four hole so you will have to drill new holes in your fire wall. The wattflyer thread discusses it and there will be Spad lovers to help.
Good luck!
