If you are looking for a sport type plane that is aerobatic and not to heavy on 3d then the mini ultrastick is exactly what you need. I have one myself from e-flite. I put a 480 outrunner on it and it will get up and go. If your not big into speed you can just stay at a 450 outrunner.

Here is a suggestion
I don't know what size plane you are looking for, but here is a great park flyer that I fly in very small parks as well as larger ones.
It is the MS Composite Unique. Very easy build and cheap. Get the electronics for it from Hobbycity for less than $30.00, they even have 2.4ghz radios for less than $50.00 with receiver.

I'm not a great 3D pilot yet, but this is a great plane to learn on.
