The paint and body work is done. The plane is back together with new servos and ESC installed. I am waiting on the new motor to arive and it will be complete.
I also plan to add the Park Flyer Plastics cowl, canopy and drop tanks when they arrive.
I know the paint isn't perfect and I used the ''it looks close'' method of scaling stripes and lettering. But it should be easier to see and it doesn't look like every other Parkzone Wildcat.

I primed the whole plane with Valspar gray primer from Lowes, and the colors are Testors Model Master spray cans. The tricky part of the whole deal is not removing paint with masking tape when you are masking for a second color.
I would take strips of blue 3Mtape and stick them to my shirt before using them to reduce the adhesive. This helped, but I still had to touch up a few spots where the paint pulled off with the tape. Just work slow and be readyto do at least some touchup work.
Now, starts therepaint on my Trojan. I didn't crash it, I justwant a paint scheme with alittle more color.

RE: Parkzones New Warbird F4F Wildcat
Enjoying everybody's contribitions. Just enjoyed a great flying experience with the Wildcat this last weekend. With the exception of a mysterious snap rolling phenomena the little ship with its new experimental "JUST FLY AT ANY ALTITUDE" prop provided really great performance in mile high density air.
It turns out that the GWSEP 108O6P 10X8 SLOW FLYER PROP (6) that performs perfectly in sea level density air is flying faster at higher altitude and is evidently being overstressed in tight high G inside square corners. Softening the corners works well to avoid the snap rolls. The automatic variable pitch characteristics of these props might prove to be my ultimate "JUST FLY AT ANY ALTITUDE" props if they will hold together and I can remember to not yank the
stick too hard at low altitude.
Out.

[sm=lol.gif][sm=cry_smile.gif] ULTIMATE VARIABLE PITCH PROP?
Just completed testing the GWSEP1080B 10X8 BLACK prop at an air density over two miles high. Performance was very similar to sea level. With proper trim snap rolls are not an issue in any maneuvers. The flexible prop blades seem to adjust to any altitude well enough to now make it possible to confidently claim that this prop is my favorite Wildcat "Just Fly At Any Altitude" prop. The F4F is over two ounces lighter than my old "War Weary Wildcat," has a 30 Amp ESC, and uses 25 to 28 C 1500 - 1800 mAh 3 cell batteries.
To enjoy a little extra strength insurence against losing a blade in flight I have thought about adding a little carbon fiber tow CA glued around the blades near the hub unless someone knows some reason why that might be a bad idea.
Let's hear some more war stories.
Out.

I had a friend sell me one that belonged to a friend of his for a whopping $40.00 in near mint condition. I like it so much I bought it's sister ship the "Gunfighter" P-51 from Parkzone. The P-51 is a WHOLE lot faster than the Wildcat!!!

I wish I could get a Wildcat for only $40!!!!

GB, good to see you still enjoying modeling. The included quoted message keeps coming up when I try to watch your movie. Video player error message.
If you’re getting a player error message, most of the time, the video should start working again in about 30 minutes. This error can happen due to a number of factors, such as issues with your Internet Service Provider (ISP), number of connected users or devices, your hardware and software configuration, your internet connection, or problems with the video itself.
Here are some tips to troubleshoot this issue on your computer or mobile site. After each step, try viewing your video again."
My "Cats" are both set up on two (2) independent transmitter systems for operational and backup trainer missions. I like to use larger diameter lower pitch props to slow the ships down during training sessions. Yes, they are great planes.
Please keep up the good missions you are flying, but check your six! We are on the winning side!

ParkZone F4F Wildcat Canopy??
My son crashed his F4F wildcat recently. Although the Parkzone F4F has been "discontinued" we were able to find many of the parts necessary for a rebuild. The only piece still needed is the canopy.
If anyone has a canopy they want to part out, we're interested.
Also, if anyone knows the type of foam used in this bird, please provide the name. We may have to craft our own.
