If anyone that owns a champ I have a controller and a brand new ESC board that horizon sent me from illionois. I told them
it shipped defective and they mail me one as the called it a one-time customer courtesy, as you know that part alone goes for $59.99
But I don't know if I'm gonna buy another champ body for it. I can but the ember2 or vapor..or just sell the ESC/RECEIVER along with transmitter!

I have a good idea? I'll give you the Lithium Charger, battery, transmitter and the ESC Board. All you have to do in return is order me a motor/esc/prop combo from the hobbyking website and it's not over $25.00
If that sounds like something you will be interested let me know and I will give you all the info. Oh yeah the combo is for my sdm piper cub...

Hey guys, I have a question,
This plane seems to be DSM2 tech, right?
Then why can't I find it as a BNF?

Also, what does the stock radio look like?

Thanks, I'm considering this plane for my son.

Wheelnut,

Yes it is DSM2 Tech. Here is what the radio looks like. It's actually a four channel radio that can be used with the BNF Micros. Not sure why the Champ does not come BNF.

Thanks, I guess I will pick one up for my son. I have watched videos on youtube and it looks like it flies great. Too bad it don't come as a BNF, probably would be pretty cheap. Maybe I'll sell the radio.

He has the DX5e and one of the e-flite radios that look just like this one.

Any problems so far with this plane? any draw backs?

Wheelnut,

I have not noticed anything as of yet that I would say is a draw back. It's actually very responsive. I had mine out this morning flying around. Whenever I ran out juice I put on the charger, and flew my S.C., Then when it was ready again put her back in the air. It's a neat little ole bird.

Firebird,
thanks alot for your quick responses.

Can it charge one battery while flying with another?
I won't worry if it can't, I will just bring one of my E-flite single lipo chargers.

That's cool Firebird & Tommy
I would say, that out of the 8 years or so that I have been in this hobby, I have spent somewhere around 20k.
I currently own about 20 rc models, from planes, to cars, to trucks to helis. And two more on the way.

Well, yes, but limited. When I retire the REAL fun will begin! If my county and employer accepts the early retirement
deal made by Mr. Patterson our governor, I'll be out by Christmas. If not, then 2+ years til I am out.

Took my Champ out for first flight in the backyard this evening. Using my new DX5e that I bought with the Champ. After figuring out the servo settings on the DX5e I flew her a few laps in my crowded backyard airspace. She survived with just a nick in the front left air vent. I need to take her to an open field for a full workout. I am no expert yet with R/C aircraft. But I flew her and she flew nicely. A small breeze made it a bit of a challenge. She sure is pretty in flight!

Hi Twizzy! I'm about 65 mile north of your old stomping grounds. I had a Slo-V a few years ago when I was new to flying and trashed her. I LOVE NYC and go there a few times a year but it's too nuts for me to ever live there! LOL! No other place like it on Earth!

I've been to poughkeepsie plenty of times, they call it power kingdome.. They have a nice mall, it's called the galleria but if there's no hobby store their then what's the purpose. I lived in wappinger falls for a year which is 20 mins away from pk and kingston!

Route 9 is such a mess now, nothing but strip malls. South hills was renovated, the galleria is still there but 9 is a total mess.

Poughkeepsie (the city) is a hell hole, I live in the town, much nicer. Never heard the term "power kingdome". They call the city "tree city" but it should be called crime city". NYC is safer I think. Anyway, small world!

Tommyr,

Good to see you are enjoying your champ. I took mine out this morning got a couple flights in with it. I see you and Twizzy have something in common other than flying. I was born in Syracuese, NY.
