We maidened my son's Champ today. I flew it first to trim it for him. No trim needed! This little plane flew great out of the box. My son really loves it.
I also like the fact that it comes with a 150mah battery.

Happy flying

Wheelnut,

That's great, I'm glad your son likes the Champ.

I actually think it flies a little easier than my PZ Micro Cub.

Does anyone know the shaft size of the Champ?

I felt that the Champ has less of a tendency for a wing stall in turns. It will definitely float slower than the PZ Cub. This is probably due to the Champ having more dihedral

It needs to be measured, but I'm pretty sure the Champ has a larger prop shaft than the PZ Cub. The PZ Cub has a 1mm shaft and breaks all the time.

wheelnut see you experianced same problem with the pz micro j3 that I was haveing, I'm now flying mine with a sukhoi motor and recievor, and a mustang prop works real well! It is alot more durable, I'm stil working on the ailerons, the extra power is nice in the wind

Hi all, I've been following this thread for awhile and it's great to see so much information.

I recently purchased a Champ and it is a blast. However, last night I crashed the plane into a tree (wing broke off), then I put down the transmitter on top of the roof of my wife's car. I went to retrieve the plane, next thing I know she is backing out of the driveway and leaving up the road. I couldn't get ahold of her and she said the radio fell off as she heard a "thud".

I walk out to the road and see the radio in a hundred pieces [:@]

Now I'm stuck without a radio. I don't have any other DSM2 radios so I'm up the creek without a paddle

My question is: I'm going to buy another Champ anyhow, will I be able to re-bind the first plane to the new radio that comes with a new Champ?

Any help appreciated and thanks!

Brandon

Should be able to. Your instructions should cover binding.

For a small plane the champ is tough. I Had it slow flying across the sky this morning without guiding the controls almost like auto pilot. This plane is great!!

I was thinking of getting into planes I have flown some coaxial and fixed pitched helis..but seems always to windy 10-15mph and my walkeras are uncontrollable. Ive never flown a plane and live in a townhouse development so this might be the plane to have. How is this plane in a little wind.

Macz,

It flies very well. Very little wind, cause this plane is very light.

I can confirm, I got one for my son and I also have the PZ UM Cub, and we both think it flies easier and better in wind.

PZ Ember vs HZ Champ: Apples vs Oranges?

Just ordered an Ember[8D] for  yard training and then stumbled across this thread where it looks like the Champ is an absolute winner. Anyway, what plane for the next jump with aileron control do you guys like? I've got the PZ 51 ("fitty" One) I love but she's fast and needs the BIGGER lots that are a drive away[&:].Nevermind the EDF jets I got suckered into that need Astrodome-sized lots[X(].

You can get the 4-site to float along pretty well. If your a pretty good pilot, you can do the same with the new PZ Sukhoi xp.

I was told I was a pretty good pilot when in acockpit (nobody with me died), but when I'm on these "little sticks" it's crash and burn carnage and oh, the humanity! every time. Oh, well. Sakai humbled by little sticks and have much respect for them. Look like idiot with little sticks. Need rehab. Nah. Sakai need Sukhoi.
