RE: rc foam fighters f-117
ok it all whent good today for the madin/remadin with the cg moved backwords and it couther balanced it fly very good it is extreamly touchy i have 40% expo in it an i think i may need more i also need to shim the moter i forgot to of set it for the thrust so it drops the left wing on big deal besides when it drops going into a turn and causes a step diving turn. I iam also going to lowere the low and high rats on it the madin was on all low rates and it was a handfull in the air but once i got more used to it i was fun to fly. I am using a smaller moter than what they say to its a 325 watt they say to use a 400+ watt but i think that it was still hiting around 40 to 50 and i did not open it up all the wa maby 3/4. I also did not tape this plane up like the did with theres this reduced the weght by alot.
I will post more picks on how i did the batt tray tomarrow.
Ill have to get dad to video it tomarrow or some time later this week
Oh and one thing about it it might take 2 people to lanch this plane the person flying and someone else to lanch it havent figuerd out how to lanch it my self yet
All said and done it is a fun plane to fly and was not hard to build i sugest it to any one looking for a fast/faster plane than a 3d, sport, or warbrid park flyer

RE: rc foam fighters f-117
Finished mine up and tried flying it today. All the LHS had was a APC 6x4 E prop.
Having some electrical/motor problems, not sure where to start. I bought the ESC/motor combo from grayson hobbies, "super mega jet" 480watt motor.
I'm new to electrics, but powered with the 40amp ESC that came with the motor, and a 2200mah 20C 3s battery.....the model barely stays airborne.
Not sure if it's underpropped, or if something is wrong with the motor/esc.
Sometimes when I first turn it on the motor will try and run backwards very slowly. If it does this, I've got to turn off TX power, then back on, and usually it will work in the correct direction.
I sent an email to grayson hobbies, but I should have researched them a bit better. No phone number and crappy reviews online have me worried.....

RE: rc foam fighters f-117
it is most likely under proped mine wouldent fly with a 6x4 inch prop put a 7x3.8 and it fly perfict. i dont think i would be the moter.
you can use a normal prop on it just put the writing facing toward the moter if you are useing a pusher prop at the time you have to reverse the way the moter tuns to do this just swich 2 of the leads from the moter to the esc.

Cool. I'll get a 7x4 tomorrow and try it out. I bought the premade white foam board kit from RCfoam fighters, but I've already found the depron and plan on making another nice one after I get this one sorted/proven.

RE: rc foam fighters f-117
I found a problem...my charge was cutting off at 800mah.
Now, with a full charge....the plan still barely flies (WOT only), but will stay up for 8-9 minutes like that. My only guess now is it's severely underpropped? Hopefully I can borrow a watt meter soon and check to see what it's pulling. If not, mine will be here next week.

RE: rc foam fighters f-117
Ehhh...all I can say is the recommended motor/esc combo from grayson isn't working for me.
On a 6x5.5 prop the ESC will cut off after about 2 mins of flying...WOT mind you but it's taking that to make the plane fly with any kind of authority.....less than 75% it won't climb at all.
I tried a 7x4, that will shut it down at about a 1:10.... I like the plane/way it looks, but the motor combo isn't doing it for me. 70+ MPH my arse!

RE: rc foam fighters f-117
I dont see why the recomended power system isnt working for you because iam using a smaller power system that what was recomended by them and it flys fine for me.
Did you tape the plane up like they did with theirs because if you did it was an adition onf un needed wight i just used a water based paint on mine with monacote stuck on it so i could tell top from bottem.

RE: rc foam fighters f-117
Nice looking project I must say, great job on it. What are some specs on it? Like span, length... Also, where can I find the plans for it? Looks like a fun parkflier, not to fast for smaller fields, nice looks, and appears to handle well. Maybe a link to a plans page?

RE: rc foam fighters f-117
yes it is fun to fly if you are going to go with the power setup i used you will have to move the batery twards the back of the plane from were it originaly was at. thanks for the coplements.
