Fiberglass and Parkzone Spitfire MkIIB

I was cleaning out my shop this weekend and found my first Parkzone plane.. The Spitfire MKIIB it had the same setup in it that it came with. However the foam was a bit fragile it seems... or at least the covering is light and the joints are dried out.

Any ideas on what I can do keep it together?

Also, I have the set up out of a T-28 that I hopped up and thought maybe id update this to fly. It would seem to me that I could modify this to fit as many have done and use lipos instead of the old system.

As i Started thinking about it.. I was wondering if I could just do a light fiberglass job on it with waterbase poly and light fiberglass...

Good idea? Bad Idea? Too much weight if its kept light? Might be nice though too.

Final thought... This is not about just throwing it away and buy a new one.. but rather.. can I get it to work and work well?

Thanks

RE: Fiberglass and Parkzone Spitfire MkIIB

I have never played with fiberglass, but my guess is that it would be too heavy.

I think you could cover the whole thing with packing tape to keep it together and it would be lighter and probably more durable (lighter and more flexible so there would probably be less damage from crashes).

If you do cover it with fiberglass, I'd be interested to hear how it flies.
