alt prop/motor choices-ESTARTER

Got an GWS ESTARTER- Looking for alternate prop recomendations using standard eps-300c motor gearbox,10-8 prop combo.
Also recomendations for peppier motors perhaps.
Getting flight times between 12-15 mins, using 7.2 volt, 1300 NiMH packs . Plane handles a breeze with no sweat, ROGs' quite well provided the grass is cut short or off asphalt, speed about 15mph or so. Flys pretty slow but not a small back yard flyer, needs more room Can get 1 to 2 rolls out of straight and level before it starts to fall out but needs a shallow dive to loop. Does pretty decent stall turns with full rudder deflection. Will even fly inverted but won't climb and needs a bit of altitude to roll out of it.

thanks

Looking for some more Power. Lots of people have been using the following: ASTRO FLIGHT 010 (14T)

The cheap alternative is:

* try using 7 or 8 cell AAA NiMh pack
* better yet, 7 or 8 cell 5/4 AAA NiMh pack
* You can also try 2/3 A cells, but it's a tight fit with the stock battery cover
* re-time your motor - this is quite a simple procedure, and it's almost like add an extra cell to your pack w/o the weight. I have a short how-to over at:

Best combo I've been using so far for the EPS-300C (C gearing, on all the GWS planes) is a re-timed motor, 8 cell NiMh (5/4AAA or 2/3 A) and 9x7 prop.

E-starter hop up!

Perhaps you could try one of the new MP Jet 25/25-26 motors (geared 5:1) but you'd need a somewhat bigger battery to supply the current it would need to maximize its power.

I haven't tried mine on an 8-cell 950KAN NiMH pack but it might do the trick and allow you the 10-15amp draw the MP Jet needs. Using 8x1250SCR and 8x1700NiMH packs I obtained bench test figures [peak, measured at the start of a series with a newly charged pack] for current draw(A), volts(V), power(W), rpm, and static thrust(oz), as follows:

8x6 APC E:
12.8amps, 9.2V, 118W, [?] , 13.1oz

8.5x5 Aeronaut:
10.3amp, 9.3V, 96W, 7000rpm, 15.8oz

9.5x6 Aeronaut:
14.6amp,9.1V, 133W, 6990rpm, 17.5oz

10x7 Aeronaut:
15.0amp,9.1V, 136W, 5810rpm, 18.0oz

Obviously these are peak (momentary) numbers and you could not expect to maintain them for long, but any of these props on about 8amps (say, 75W) would give you 10 or more ounces of thrust, which should be more than enough to make your E-starter move!

Hope this is some help, Cheers, Phil
