New! The Tracker III
Dear All,
The Tracker Radios are sold out and are not being re-run as is. We have developed a new case and several new features for introduction early next year.
1. The case is more modern in appearance.
2. We have added 7 free mixes, up from the current 3.
3. Alpha naming of models.
4. Trainer cord capability.
5. Memory card upgrades by the user.
The price will go up by $25 and we will have a 6 channel version as well with the micro 6 rx for $225. This will have only 3 mixes and 10 model memory, but should have the other features listed above.
The tooling for the case is done and we are in re-design for the boards and software. We will of course continue to service and support the Tracker II system.
All the best,
Lewis Polk

We will soon put pictures up at our website www.polkshobby.com and will have the manual downloadable from the website. The manual will not be finished for several months.

Dear All,
The major seeker problem we have observed here with several thousand sold is that the batteries are not properly charged. Please charge your batteries for 24 hours if you are not linking properly.

Lewis,
Will the trims for dual elevators work together on the new radio?
I have the original software version on my Tracker II, what will the lastest version do that mine will not?

Mr. Polk,
A suggestion, have the changes saved automatically and eliminate the save step. This is the big reason that my son and I no longer use our Trackers except for backup.

RE: New! The Tracker III
The targeted release date is January 2005. The molds are done and we are working on the board design now. We have sourced the buddy box plug and new 3-2way switch. The rest is all software design change for the alpha-numeric naming and the extra 4 free mixes as well as some other programming to make the the 3 way switch work.
The main chip is an upgraded one with more memory, but fits in the same footprint, so we have a good chance of meeting our deadline.

Lewis Polk

Maybe the fact that this question has been asked twice and still not answered, is in itself the answer.

RE: New! The Tracker III
We will have expanded memory that will allow us to have a true timer on the new version.
I will look into the dual trims, but we are still working on the programming and do not have that capability of giving an answer at this point. With seven free mixes whey can't they be used to have two dual trims?

This is good news!!!
Mr. Polk, here is a point for your consideration when programing the timer on the Tracker III.
LiPo batteries are becoming more and more popular with electric flyers. With LiPos, it is critical that they not be overdischarged, yet many ESCs currently in use do not have correct cutoff points. Thus, a timer is often critical when flying with LiPos. For this purpose, timers that can be set to run only when the throttle is advanced are extremely helpful, and are currently included in many computer radios already on the market. Personally, I consider a timer that can measure the accumulated time the throttle has been advanced to be an essential feature in any computer radio, and I suppect than many other electric flyers would agree. If this feature, along with the others that you named above, is included in the 6-channel version of the Tracker III along with the new micro Seeker receiver, I think it could be a "killer package" for electric flying, which is itself one of the fastest growing segments of RC. And many glow flyers might also value such a timer, of course.
In summary, I urge you to seriously consider having an on-screen timer that will show cumulative run time that the throttle has been advanced beyond a given point, say 15%. I know such a feature would be extremely important in my personal buying decision, and I suppect it would also be important to many others as well, especially electric flyers.
Thanks for listening.

RE: New! The Tracker III
One thing I'd like to see in the TrackerIII is an option for non-linear mixes. The most simple and most useful of them being a "V" shaped mix to allow "up" elevator on both right and left rudder. If you get this mix in, I'll upgrade my my Tracker II in a heartbeat.

RE: New! The Tracker III
I was just about to come back and say I'd love to see the expo % settable on both sides of a duel rate, so I can have nearly-0% on low rates and lots on high. That's great news if that can be put in.
Any way we can sign up to get in on the new TX early?

RE: New! The Tracker III
Dear All,
I believe the name of the feature you're looking for is "Cross Trim" and we acutally had it on the first versions of the Tracker II. We removed it to gain memory space for other features that were more prominently asked for. As space is no longer a problem we will add back in cross trim.
We will start taking orders on November 1, 2004 for the new version.
All the best,
Lewis Polk
