Old Airtronics vs New Airtronics.

When did the New Airtronics replace the Old. When looking at each what are the physical differences. I have 10 Airtronics radios and they all look alike. They have the black and red wires and black connectors. These are the old ones what do the new ones look like.

leave it to airtronics not to have a support forum of their own!!

the newer "Z" receivers are blue in color and the servos now have the same connector as JR and hitec use.

the only real difference is that the V+ wire is now in the middle of the connector. you can now use airtronics servos with the other brand receivers and vise-versa without modifying the plugs

Here's 2000 words worth of pictures of both the old (classic) connector and the new (Z)...

Like Zagnut said, the new Z-connector is typically blue, and is shaped and wired the same as Hitec's

RE: Old Airtronics vs New Airtronics.

Just to clarify - I have an older model Airtronics setup that uses the connectors (ATX?) like Strato911's first picture. Airtronics has since tried to 'standardize' by using the blue Z connector. The Z will interchange with Z connectors used on some other brands of equipment (JR, FUT) but will not interchange with the older Airtronics equipment.

In other words, if you have an older Airtronics receiver, you can't use a new servo with the Z type connector, unless you buy an adapter (Airtronics PN 99399Z) or pull the pins to change the plug.

This turned me off of that brand a bit, seemed somehow like a lack of support for previous customers. My last 3 radio purchases have been another brand.
