Default Profile scratch build?

Hey guys I've built several kits already and recently after crashing my HOB ME109 wanted something to build. i was going to try and scratch build something and figured on starting with a Profile plane. As of right now I'm building it for an OSLA10 it doesn't nessecarilly have to be a3D planeI don't know ifthe 10will have enough power so I might have to go with a 15 for vertical climb. I started with no real plans and scratch drew the fuse and drew up the wing layout, with rough estimates for aileron lenghts and method for building them. The wing is symetrical andI am sure there are easier ways to accomplish the goal but I'm doing it the way I know how. I cut and sanded the wing ribs to all be very close to one another. The ailerons are made buy cutting the rib to create desired aileron length, I then cut notches into square stock and inserted the tails of each rib into the stock and secured the TE with a smaller square piece.Just going with a CA hinge to join.

This is where I am at as of now and would like some advice on wing placement and methods used to join the wing halves. I am thinking of making doublers for both sides of the fuse with holes drilled for the wing dowels, Problem is that the wing dowels are not perfectly centered in the wing ribs, rookie mistake. So I guess my question is should the center line of the wing be parallel to the motor shaft or directly inline. The doubles would be joined with their own seperat dowels possibly spaning into the first ribs of the wings. Would like some feedback and advice on how to approach from here. in the mean time going to get the horiz stab done and make the doubler/servo trays for rudder and elev. and think about landing gear

I think I'm going to cut the dowels that are there nowflush and add two new ones that are centered in the rib. I'm going to stagger them so the two halves will slide together around the fuse and into one another, then epoxy them to the fuse.

I will addmit i'm shooting from the hip here and not even sure if its gonna fly. I hope it does, but either way it is a fun way to pass the time.

Keep the wing loading light, and the power to weight ritio high.

Hey Merlin, Dont let guys like Maniac get you worked up! I have built many from scratch. Some flew well, some not so good. As long as you enjoy it, go for it!!!!

If this was my airplane here's what I'd do: outline the airfoil shape in the fuse (after checking alignment) with a pen then cut it out. Remove the dowels if you can- they do little for strength and only add weight. Join the two wing halves with fiberglass. Now you can glue the wing into the fuse. It's your airplane so you can certainly build like you want. Like a previous poster says- this is how you learn. Keep up the great work. Building your own is so much more fun!
