Damn rrandletn! If I didn't know better I'd think it was my Skooter II. Looks great. If you can do paypal, go ahead and set me up with one. I really don't need another plane but since it's a Skooter II,,,
PM me if you can do paypal and we can work out the details.
Thanks,,,basmntdweller

Default Skooter II Remember this model

A fellow gave me a little 48 inch span plane that looks identical to the Skooter II.....48 inch span..tip plates...tail feathers....even the canopy....but it has a 10 inch chord foam wing.....and has been converted to a taildragger.....still has the blocks for the tri gear in the wing..... The fuse is obviously scratch built though....

Kinda favors a KAOS......so I've been calling it a mini KAOS lookalike....for lack of a better name....

I do know one thing....it is a li'l rocket with an Oh Sh*t .40 LA.....
flies great..... I had some trouble with it groundlooping sometimes...til I put some toe-in in the gear....no tailwheel or tailskid.....I fly off grass.....

I don't have any pics of it unfortunately.....

The Skooter II has a foam wing and the cord is about 10". You may have a Skooter wing.
I've had a 40 size Bridi Kaos and the wing is tapered with a swept leading edge and a forward swept trailing edge. That was a great plane.
The Skooter is a great plane to fly. After I get a couple of other projects completed I'm thinking about building a 60 or 90 size version.

I have wanted to get with it but too many other projects have gotten in front of it. I am still anxious to get one flying again though.

Default I crashed my Skooter

Sad day at the field, Had a great flight, came in landed just fine then decided to take off again. Just after take off the engine died during the climb out and it tip stalled. I figured it was pilot error, no fuel but when I got to the plane I still had a 1/2 a tank. The good new is this will be a simple repair.

This is my SPOOTER II.......Skooter II wing.....coroplast fuse..... I didn't taper the fuse in width back of the wing....otherwise the same dimensions of the original fuse......flies just as well if not a bit better than the original......

Oh, boy, the old Scooter II. I learned to fly on one of those in the spring of 1971. I remember buying the kit because it was designed by the old CL combat champion, Riley Wooten of VooDoo fame. I had been flying CL combat before I went into the real thing in Vietnam and when I came back with money in the pocket, bought a radio set. I thought the wife would freak when I told her I spent $400 for a 4-channel Kraft. In 1970, $400 was a bunch.

I had picked up an Enya .45 in the far east and used it for power. On my first plane, I was accused of overpowering. I remember telling the guy I think that's what this little thingie here is for, pointing at the throttle.

Mine had the wings covered with poster board and had vinyl shelf paper over that. It also had end plates. It was sort of like an upside down Ugly Stick without the Fokker tail. I had a lot of fun with that first plane.

Here's a page from the photo album showing a very skinny Ed-ster, 35 years younger and 75 pounds lighter. I was in Ft Worth, Texas, learning how to fly the F-111 and RC at the time and they were both harrassing me. It was touch and gos in the F-111. I kept touching the main gear and they kept telling me to let the plane land. Bear in mind, I had been flying for 10 years and been a pilot training instructor teaching landings, but I bit my tongue and plopped the plane down. At the RC field, it was, "You just learned how to fly, you shouldn't climb that fast," and "you should let the pattern flier have the pin, he needs to practice." Grrrrr. So long ago and I have yet to change!!! **** 'em, let them wait their turn like everyone else.

Well here are a couple more Skooter II's. The Red, White and Blue Skooter II is the normal size. The Black and Yellow is 1/3 larger, 64" wing and a HB 61

I knew they didn't have plans when the kit was marketed. What you have is the building instruction sheet. I have the parts drawn (Traced) out. Send me 10.00 and you can have a copy. $20.00 + shipping will get you the sheet plus a set set of foam cores.

I've been out of RC for 20 years and I"m just getting back into it. I had a skooter II and it was my favorite plane. You could just tool around with it or do fun aerobatics. A local club was trying to start racing in s standard class with skooter IIs and KB .20s. I fly it with that for a while and then through my OS .40 in it. It was way fun then without being twitchy.

I'd really like to find an electric kit in 36" span built like a skooter II with a cut wing and balsa.

Does any one have specs for the skooter II?

From this thread Ifound

Wing span = 48"
Wing Cord = 10"
Airfoil = NACA0015 ( more or less)

dihedral angle ???

It did have a bit of dihedral, yes?

length?
tail surface dimension?
(There a dead-on top view picture earlier in this thread and from that I can likely figure out the other dims)

Darn, I seem to remember it having dihedral. Anyone remember??

I'm thinking if I knew the specs, I could scale it to the size I want for an electric, get some cores cut, and scrach-build the rest.

The kit has a pre-shaped piece of wood that is used to determine the dihedral and is also used for the landing gear. When I built my planes I didn't have know the dihedral, so on the smaller plane I set it to around 1/2" on the wing tip. I also built one with a flat wing, it was OK but a little dihedral makes a it lot better. Because I was cutting my own foam and building from stock wood I had different wings that I could use. I just checked the build page and it doesn't indicate how much dihedral.

OK more information

Horizontal; 18"
Elevator: 18" X 1 1/2" One piece of wood
Vertical" 6" high 2 1/2" bottom 1 1/2" top, a fin about 3" long in front of vertical tapered down to 0" See pictures.
Rudder 2 1/2" at top 3" at bottom Angled 1/2 way back on the bottom to allow the elevator movement. Do what you need for this.

My first plane had the landing gear under the wing, but I was flying off of grass so I changed that so the landing gear was in front of the wing. Under the wing it always wanted to nose over when in the grass.

Wow thanks for all the info.

The 1/2" dihedral, that would be each wing-tip on a 48" span?

I know this is a old thread but if you still want a skooter II there is a place to get a kit. The kit is not complete i believe you get the fuse tail feathers and ribs. You can get the ribs made for tail dragger or trike and it does not have dihedral. Contact Eddie at  www.lazer-works.com
