Default Definition of a profile plane

I am putting together the Profile Brotherhood web site. I am attempting to define what a profile plane is and how it is different from a standard plane. I realize the main difference is that the fuse is a thin profile but what about other differences. What make a profile a profile and what advantages does it have over other planes in your own words.

I would think it stands to mention the facts about the short nose and tail moments and the plane's ability to rotate easily about the CG. Maybe some rule of thumb on airfoil thickness versus wing chord would be good. Of course, a profile could be any design with a slab fuse but if your talking fun-fly there are some noticeable features that nail them down. I have this nostalgia thing for the old control line planes like the Ringmaster. When I hear the word "profile" I automatically flashback. Then too, I flashback for no reason at all sometimes.

hmmmm.... it almost always has fixed wings (non detachable), is shorter coupled then other 3D planes, has no cowling, uses no engine mount, and of course has a thin fuselage. Never ever can it be a scale plane ! Just my $0.02

How 'bout ... "A plane with a fuse that cracks in half right behind the TE of the wing every once in a while, 'specially when it runs into cornstalks when falling out of a hover".

and speaking for profile kits, they are quick to build and fairly inexpesive. the quick build is kinda nice.....because when you stuff it in you aint lost as much and you can build another one.

This TopCap is rockin' along. I could build this thing in a day if I ever had one whole day to myself.

slab fuse, thick wing..
non-removeable wing?? the larger profile plane have removeable wing and also stab.
also some of the eailer profile planes had plastic cowls. have to have an fuse , no pod or booms planes.

stand-way-off-scale
most are like to old uc planes, ringmaster, flite streak.

Default bandaids, LOL

I have a Sirex Wasp that I've been flying for maybe 2 months now. I've got 3 ply band-aids and 1 ply butterfly on my fuse and I've re-attached the whole front end once, plus made several repairs on both of the wings' LE's and I still can't hover worth a crap, LOL.

How about this motto "Profiles, the Timex of RC airplanes, They take a lickin' and keep on tickin' "

I guess the advantages are; the air columb is not blocked by a mostly decorative blob of sticks and covering, and it provides a nice flat surface for stickers of old Doc Morris Scr**ing the pooch!
