Profile Hots Fuselage?
Does anyone out there still have the plan sheet for this?
How about a good pic of it built, before covering?
Just wondering.
I've recently rescued one from someone's crash-room, and while I could probably build
any basic fuselage shape, and have decent results, I'd kinda like to finish up
with it still resembling the original Morris Profile hots, just because.
The wing and tailfeathers are near perfect, but the fuse is basically splinters.
Not that I'm thinking of getting into profiles or anything. I'm just... um... experimenting...
Yeah... that's the ticket

Yes!
It helps immensely!
Thanks to you and others who also replied by PM with help on this
I know there are easier ways of getting a profile plane flying...
especially after the last two hours of picking, pulling and sanding.
(Old covering can be a PAIN. Especially when stuck with ca or epoxy all over.)
This has just turned into one of those, "I ain't quittin' until it's flying" kinda things.
I've got plenty of 3/8" balsa and such, just lying around. So why not?
Besides... the guy who gave it to me said he didn't expect it would ever fly again.
If that doesn't sound like a challenge, I don't know what does

IMO the horizontal stabilizer is way to wide.
The elevator has to fight the effects of the horizontal sabilizer.
Id shorten the sabilizer to 3 1/2in. at the widest point this will help for better 3d. Also raising the hor, stabilizer about 3/8in, would help too.
Heck, might as well change the top line of the profile as well. Make it look like a Cap 232, also make it a little wider for better knife edge.
Just food for thought!!
Have fun. Don

Yup....
I tired to offer him a sweet deal on a Air Wild Edge.....but he said no.....well not really.....he said yes.....I think his wife said no....
Okay, that is not the truth either....I ripped the gear out of the Edge and tore the bottom up a bit. It is back together with tape and all, and still flies great......but now it is damn ugly.......
it was just real ugly before......

Yeah... quite a mix huh?
Some dude I met on the 'net. Wassup!
You should post a panoramic view of "the room" sometime, including the crashbin
Right now, I'm not flying anything. I'm installing new rcvrs and learning to program
an 8UHF... built one wing for a Seduction, awaiting an upgrade for the heli,
and then I started tearing into this thing. So much to do, and so little time!
As for this bad boy, I'm sure I could build one from a kit in half the time,
but this is good practice, I think... and I couldn't beat it, for the price!
Just a few more months cleaning off the remaining covering and glue, and then
I'll start on the new fuse. Shouldn't take more than a day to 1st flight, after that.
Check out that 1.5" HEAVY tailwheel! Now I know why there were 5 oz of lead
flattened to the front of the fuse. I think it'll get a simple skid, upon resurrection.

The wife said, "sure... no problem. Let's go pick up our new Trailblazer".
At which point I decided that I'd better pass.
It'd look doggone funny strapped to the top of the Del Sol
And the Trailblazer is gonna wait another year... maybe two. I keep telling her.

I've been thinking of scratch building another Profile Hots and was thinking of what I would change. It's a good light design, I just thought I'd increase its 3d ability.
If anyone wants to make any comment please fill free.

FWIW
I doinked my Hots on the forward right wing tip while practicing Harrier landings. The only part of the plane that didn't want to stop moving forward was the tail section. The famous break right behind the wing. It was an easy fix, just squish the sticks together, make sure of straightness, then thin CA.
My advice would be to either sheet the sides for reinforcement or do what I ended up doing...CA 1/2" carbon tape onto both sides of the fuse at the rear wing area. The center of the fuse became very rigid and it survived similar bumps.

DonH21...
I didn't think you were rude or abrasive... I'm just looking to put this thing back stock.
Your ideas are probably good ones, but I'll save my scratch building/bashing for later
(Like... after I crash this thing a couple times)

Update... I'm *this* close to airborn now :)
OK...
I got the angles I needed, and just built a new fuse, except for the ply up front.
Anyhow... it kinda resembles a Hots again now. Well, more than it did when I got it.
Thanks to all who helped!
Now I'm down to the small stuff... radio, engine, balance, cover & trim.
Anyone care to list the recommended starting points for lo/hi throws for this thing?
If I don't hear otherwise I'll probably go with 1" up/down on ailerons/elevator,
and 1.5" up/down on rudder, to start with. Sound like a reasonable start?
I've never flown a profile plane before. It should be an "educational" first flight
