RE: Wacky Waco...Updated
I'd love to see how it would balance and fly if you just bolted on a 25cc converted weedie motor. I have one on a 60-90 sized ugly stick with around 1000 sq inchs of wing I think...and it is very manageable with no bad habits. I think the weedie motor would solve that two pounds of lead problem. I keep thinking of building something similar to your plane, maybe down the line ..SO MANY PROJECTS !!!

RE: Wacky Waco...Updated
FINALLY....
After the 3rd rebuild, the Waco flew today in a glorious sun-shiny and cloudless sky.
I re-installed the SK80, removed the cowling to check a bawlky glow plug and ended up leaving it off entirely.
I posted a long and winded explanation previously so let's cut to the chase:

RE: Wacky Waco...Updated
I've been flying the h*ll out of my Waco and the bent, rebent and rebent again aluminum landing gear finally gave up the ghost this morning.
This past week, I spread the wheels on the gentlest of landings so I rigged up a shock system of sorts. See the photos. This was on the 1/8"x1" aluminum stock that I had installed 2 years back.
When I removed the gear this morning after flying, I discoverd that the aluminum had actually ripped around the drill hole, leaving a 1/4" crack.
No more.
I went to Ace Hardware and bought a length of 1/4"x1" and went to work. I liked the way the springs looked so I brought them over onto the new gear but I doubt they'll be needed.
CG impact? See the photos...dead on.
Flying her again in the morning...
I do love my Wacky Waco

I have two (2) NIB Wacky Waco kits for sale. Boxes have been opened, but the contents not removed. I'm asking $60 each + shipping ($TBD). PM me if interested.
