Default MyGic 9D

Hey guys,

I liked the Magic 3D so much that I enlarged it by about 28 % and came up with this, MyGic 9D.

Specs

Span 65"
Area 1218.75 sq"
AUW 4lbs 4 oz.
Wing Loading 8oz/sq ft.

Very nice plane !! I am thinking of building a 90" version.

Comments are welcomed.

Regards
Marcus

PS : I have hanged it much lower that this.

Guys,

Thanks for the compliments !!

Paul,

I didnt draw any plans for it as I just scratched it by the Magic 3D's dimensions.

So far the plane can do climbing flat spins, both upright (with flaps) and inverted, super stable hovers ( in 0 wind), 45 deg. harriers..super slow flight....very good inverted flight character. I got more pics coming soon.

Marcus

For the 90" version,

I am thinking that I wont do a Magic lookalike...but more of a pattern design, ( Flip 3D, Seduction )

Here are the specs that I am thinking of,

Wing Span - 90"
Wing Chord - 27"
Wing Area - 2430 sq"
Length - 97"
AUW - 9 lbs
Wing Loading - 8.5 oz/ sq. ft.
Engine - MVVS 1.6 (Glow) - 18x6 prop at about 8500 (approx. 20 lbs thrust)

Your comments ?

Marcus

Marcus,

Awesome man!!!. What radio are your using, do you do some programming to make it hover so low to the ground.

I wish I could also fly like you .... I am flying a Super Stick 40 from Hangar 9 with a 45MVVS and tuned piped. Any recommendation on the settings and how/what areas I should concentrate on my flying skills.

For your info, I have flown more than 10 kinds of aeroplane be it high wing and low wing. I do not have any problem with basic aerobatics such as loops, rolls, inverted, spin, stall turn and etc. I just could not find out the tricks of hovering (longer than 30 seconds), flat spins, straight knife edge and harrier.

Does it require some sort of radio programming????

I do not know how to get to the site in Sg. Buloh, perhaps one day I could join you for a hands on training .... bolehhhh ke????

OR maybe you want to come over to my place and teach me your skills.

But .... no pay hah, just friendly couching!!!

the above picture is of alan greenfield junior of weston uk prop hanging the twice size cougar at sandown park model show, he managed to hook the undercarriage onto the railings you see in the background in a prophang.
he later broke the firewall in a heavy landing!

Fauzi,

Thanks for the comments on the skills....i can definitely show you how to do it...what mode do you fly? I fly mode 2. I started out about 5 years back flying mode 1, but at one point, i just could not progress, so I took a 1 year break and came back to fly mode 2. Just started to fly last year August on mode 2, went back to my trusty old trainer and then got the magic....and the rest is history.

I am getting the Flip 3D 25 today..YEEEHHAAAWWWW. The best part is, I'm on leave for the next 5 days, plenty of time to get the Flip up and flying.

Call me 019-3543282 and I'll give you directions on how to get to Sg. Buluh. I live in Kota Kemuning.

Regards
Marcus

PS : I am thinking of retiring the above plane. Broke a prop on my 4th harrier landing :-(.

Only broke a prop?? hmmmm
I thought you were retiring it due to the "haircut" it gave you from hanging it too close. Or is that a natural bald spot?? HEHEHEHE

MalaysianFlyer...

Thanks for the compliments...

Let's see if the same happens IF and WHEN you finally fly the U-CAN-DO-3D that you got.

MyAeromodelling,

I am using the Futaba 9C, and no special programming or mixes except for the Flapperon mix enabled.

As per your setup, I am not familiar with MVVS engines and their tune pipe...but I got myself the MVVS 1.6 + 3266 tune pipe. Its gonna go into another scratch built plane.

I dont know about the Super Stick 40 (H9).....is it similar to the WM Super Stunt 40?

Hello Gagak, Malaysianflyer and Marcus ....

It seems that we have hijacked this thread for Malaysians .... bagus juga tu..... at least aku bangga pasal setiap kali tenguk this forum the most frequently non-USA flyers whom are active in this forum are those from Malaysia.

At least tak da lah depa kata kita kat Malaysia ni tak tahu fly aeromodelling.

I believe one good day kita meet each other at one common flying site ke ... tak de le communicate via cyber je.

MyAeromodelling,

Kau org boleh la jumpa.....aku anak dagang merantau. Tambang sekali pulang boleh beli satu biji 1/4 scale  . Mungkin satu hari kalau umur panjang.

Dekat Miri ni semua sunday flyer aje. I'm the only one starting to 3D both heli & airplane. Sometime very difficult to get tips and technique. Lucky ada RCU kalu tidak main baca magazine sajalah.

Nice to know u guys
Hisham
