Scratch built profile for Magic wings.
From an earlier thread that I screwed up the images:
What to do with a spare set of Magic wings taking up space in the shop? Add some wood and a few small parts and Poof! A new model.
The fues is built up from 1/4 inch square sticks of balsa and hard wood sandwiched between 1/8 light ply. Tail group is 1/4 inch balsa with a stick of hardwood in both the vert and horiz for a spar.

Coming Together!!
Wings were badly warped after a year in the garage in a 120 degree Arizona heat. I had to strip and steam them. If your wife wants one of those new garment steamers that are popular now. BUY IT FOR HER!!
I'll post some more after I finish it up. Still have to mount the wings and ailerons. And install radio gear and maybe beef up the gear.

Thats really good Idea and looks good! Let us know how it flies.
My dad and I both have a magic and love them. He has an OS LA 46 with a Macs pipe, and I have a Webra 50 wiht a Macs. I use 40% nitro fuel on mine!

ALL DONE!!
Ready to fly. Had to add 3oz to nose to balance close to the Magic marks. Should be able to remove them after I get used to this. I flew my Magic about an inch aft of the stated CG. Added a second set of wires to the gear, 'ala Magic. Used shrink wrap to cover crappy welds. Wont waste my time trimming it until it survives first flight and I know it flys. HERE GOES:
Fired it up, set the throttle, did a range check...UH OH...

ABORT!
It went ape sh-t during the range check at about 30' with the engine running. I know it's the receiver. It's the one that came out of my Magic. The last flight of the Magic I almost lost it until it got back over the runway. Turned out the fues was full of fuel and the receiver was floating. I took it apart and cleaned it with alcohol but I guess it's shot. Maybe next weekend!?

Wings
I toyed with the idea of removable wings, something along the same lines as a Sig SE. Or thru-bolt them with access hatches under the wing. But in the end I chickened-out and just epoxied them on using the stock Magic joiner. I use a method I've done on profiles before. One wing at a time I coat the joiner and pocket and the rib (all except about a quarter size area in the center of the rib) with 2 hour epoxy. Then place a dollop of 5 min epoxy in the center of the rib, slide it together, line up the marks and hold by hand until the 5 min epoxy goes off. Then clean up the ooze with alcohol and it makes a nice bead.
