Wow! I hate to see that. Youshould havehad the right-a-way since you were stationary. It wasn't like your plane was moving and the other guys was moving too.

RE: EF Chinn Yak
yeh i dont know, i didnt call hovering, he didnt call fly by, i figured at that altitide id be safe from anyone that wanted to land, or id get out the way quicker, but didnt think of fly by....he offered to pay actually but i said not to worry, hard to say whos at fault, no rules at that club either, its not an ama site, so i can be to blame for hovering over the runway, he could be to blame since he hit me and several of us were hovering at different times, so he knew we were around....guess thats what i get for hovering to high....still not sure if i will get another one or not yet, still mourning the loss

I'm probably done with this one too. There's no product support on it. I've written to Extreme Flight about the tail shearing off and didn't even get a reply back. Poor customer support.

RE: EF Chinn Yak
I got tired of seeing my Chinn Yak hanging from the ceiling with the tail broken off so I emailed Extreme Flight today with pictures of the damage and asked to get a new fuse and tail so that I can fix it. Here's the pics. We'll see what happens out of it.........

RE: EF Chinn Yak
I had aftermarket gear on it.The stock was junk. I will sell that also. If interested send me an email so I do not get yelled at by the overbearing MOD'S for trying to sell stuff in this thread..

RE: EF Chinn Yak
I just received my Yak,to replace the one I've been flying for almost a year. The first thing I noticed was, the elevator joiner is almost an 1/8" narrower than my first one. Maybe that's the cause of some of them breaking off. I don't know why they would change something that was working fine.

RE: EF Chinn Yak
I also have issues w/ my Yak. Very first flight the right elevator counter balance broke near the hinge. Put some glue in and had 2 more careful flights.
Cut the hinges, fixed the broken area and added some reinforcement with 1/32 ply. Flew again today and the first flight the elevator broke at the connecting rod. Glued some scrap wood on it and was able to fly a few more. Seems there's some severe flutter in the right elevator halve.
I also have my YS63 mounted pretty much forward and it still flies very tail heavy. It hangs on its tail and tends to go up if I slow it down.

I tell you guys, they really missed the ball on the ARF. For those of you who were lucky enough to have built/flown the original kit version Chinn Yak, you had your hands on one of the most capable profiles to date....and it (the kit) wasn't a major POS!!!! Glad I have the plans/templates here! Got two scratch built ones under way Im telling ya, there is a HUUUUUGE difference in the kit vs. the BARF!
