I've got one. First impressions are of good quality, and the price can't be beat - $140 Can = ~$100 US. From jet-hobbies.
Proportions look very simiilar to the modeltech magic.

I was going to buy a Magic, but I dont like the magics flat bottom wing. The fun air appears like a Magic but lighter with a symmetrical wing. I have heard rumors of them hovering with a TT .36pro. My Fun Air will be here next Wed, and I will be writing a review on it. My engine of choice is a Saito .72 (close to the same weight as a TT .46pro or OS .46). More info to come. Has anyone flown this plane yet? What was your engine choice, final weight, and flying characteristics?

The magic don't have a flat bottom wing aerodynamically, and mine is only 3.6Lbs
The Fun air 40 looks like a copied cougar 2000 with a longer tail.
The magic just has characteristics like non other that I like. It's my STOL, Funfly, and, hovering plane all in one. The symmetrical airfoil lacks the extreme slow speed flight of the Magic's unique airfoil, but offers better inverted performance. There tow very different airplanes. I've flow both and can't what to try the Fun air 40 to see what if any unique characteristics it may have.

I received my Fun Air 3D-40 today, I must say I am impressed with the construction, it is amazing light for an ARF. The covering looks great, a few wrinkles, but no more that any other arf and a low heat iron should make short work of them. The hardware package was ample (especially for a $98 with shipping plane), there was even a pull-pull kit for the rudder . I plan to use a Saito .72(same weight as an OS .46).

I wil be writing a mini review for this plane as the assembly progresses, I can't wait to see how it flies. The only negative thing I have to say is the lack of detail in the manual, it is one sheet of paper, with very few words.

Dan

PS: has anyone flown this plane yet? engine? weight?

I kinda like the 20 size Fun Air 3D for $75. Unfortunately they are sold out.
Might have to check back on that one.

Dan, let us know how she went together, and how well she flies.

Default Fun Air 20

Just got a Fun Air 20 from Jet Hobbies. It packaged very well and survives Fedex Groud. The ARF looks great. One piece wing and hardly any wrinkles. The 20 size use rubber bands to hold the wing down. The instruction is pretty much like the ones from World Model. If you can assemble the ARFs from World Model, you should be OK.

Micky at Jett Hobbies said that a customer reported that a fun-air 40 hovered with a TT .36 PRO, I can't wait to see what the verticle performance will be with a saito .72, what would you recomment the control throws and CG location to be for precision, for 3D? theit is no indication on the instructions as to what these should be

I gotta have one..... I killed my Magic last week and need a replacement FF.

How did you guys order from them. I dont see any order forms/links on the website. If the number they give isnt any different than just long distance I'll give them a call but I dont want to get hit with $25.00 worth of phone charges just to call Canada and order a $98.00 plane.

Well my plane is now on order. Free shipping AND a free pilot. I dont think I'll be putting the free pilot in the Fun-Air 40 though....just dont seem right.

If this plane as good or better than my Magic I'll be extremely happy with it. I plan on using my same engine combo (TT42 GP w/ MCP) as I had on the Magic since they seem to be comperable in size and weight.

I'll be sure post my thoughts on the plane once I get it and have a chance to fly it.

US BUYERS BEWARE!!!!

You will have to check your credit card statement carefully. Jet Hobbies use old exchange rate to calculate the CAD to USD. They used $1 USD = $1.5 CAD to do the conversion, but the current rate is about $1 USD = $1.37 CAD due to the recent drop of US dollar. So they actually charged $85.33 USD for a $75 USD Funair 20.

On the other hand- the FUNAIR 20 does not have tail-wheel, not even a skid. There is nothing at the tail.

The Fun Air 40 has a skid, but I am considering placing a tail wheel on it, this task may be hard because the ruder is totally on top of the elev and stab, there is not an easy way to get control linkages from the ruder to a tailwheel, good news the fun air 40 comes with a pull pull setup on the ruder. The landing gear is formed aluminum and light, the wheels are about 1.14" foam, but sturdy and light, I may consider larger wheels for flying from grass. the gear is not near as tall as the magic, and does not use music wire.

I'll try and take some pictures and post tomorrow
