saito 100
will a 16x6 be too much for a saito 100 or would a 15x4 be better a better 3d prop for the saito, think the 14x4 i am running now is a bit small for it

16x6....if it's a good wood prop will be fine, if it's an APC or MAS, it's a little too much.
15x4....good prop for an OS .91 FX, 2 stroke....
15x6....MAS K series or S2 are great props for the Saito 1.00, but that was just my choice when I owned a Satio 1.00.

RE: saito 100
if you would like a 4" pitch prop for the Saito 1.00, try a 16x4W APC.....personally, I liked the MAS 15x6 S2.....
MAS 15x6 S2 = http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXNGU5&P=SM
MAS 15x6 K = http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXFTE6&P=7

RE: saito 100
Edge, Wessco gave your the best in my view prop choice for a Saito 100 to fly 3D.
Take your time, ask the questions you PMed me to the group and you will get a better rounded answer. WE don't all agree on everything. The truth, we are talking about money and spending it just for fun. Be careful but also keep an opened mind.
The RPM's you quoted me seamed very low for the props you were talking about. Post those too!

RE: saito 100
this is a new engine with 6 tanks in it,with a 14x5w tac reads around 9350 to 9400,book says up to 11,000 rpm,so what would be a safe rpm with a 15x4w?rpms with a 14x4w had a ton of power and hovers around 1/2 throtel and pulled out awsome at 3/4,just do not wanna kill this engine.i have a 16x4w will be here next week

RE: saito 100
I would try a good 15x6 wood prop. I used to use a 14x8 apc on my 100 but not for 3d. How much nitro are you running? I think i was getting right around 10k rpms with my old 100 and the 14x8 apc running 30% heli and it wasnt even broken in yet. I am getting ready to put together a razoryak with a 100 and am going to try a xoar 15x6.

Somewhere above 10,000 (10K) your valves start to float. The valve spring keepers are being tested. If you lose a valve keeper the valve will break into the piston destroying piston, jug, valve and anything else in its path. Your motor with 6 tanks thru it does not need to be above 4K. Run it 40 minutes at 4K very rich wide opened 5 minute at a running. You want your ring to seat and all the moving parts to work them self in too. After the first hour of running adjust the valves. You will have 2 maybe 3 gallons of fuel thru your motor before you are finished adjusting both needles. Then tac the motor and your results should match or be close to 9600 with an APC 16x4 on 15% fuel (depending on many different factors like elevation, humidity & temp.
If you have broken it in like the manual. 6 tanks past breakin you should be very rich anyway. The wrong prop could turn your 300.00 Saito 4 Stroke into a paper weight!

RE: saito 100
I wouldn't.
Fortunately in this part of the world, metric cap-head screws are readily available (I have a workshop full of them) but I never understand why they're such a rarity in the USA. Don't imported US cars (Toyotas, Mazda, Subaru, etc) have metric fixtures? Why is metric seen as such a bad thing?

1) Don't run w/o that screw. Would you drive your car w/ missing lug nuts?
2) You should be able to find a socket head cap screw at Home Depot or Lowes or Ace or something.
3) If you can't find it there, try this web site: www.mcmaster.com
