Default Sabre 47

Anybody seen the Sabre 47 from Value Hobby?

http://www.valuehobby.com/product_de...d=4&item_id=46

I've got one on the way that I thought I'd do a build thread on. These are great flying planes. I've had the V2 ARF and also have built a kit of the Sabre that I fly now. This picture is the of the ARF on the Value Hobby website.

I have 1 in the box awaiting the destruction of something else. Os 55 will go on it as soon as it becomes available.

I have a choice between a Saito .72 or a YS .63. I'd like to keep it light, so I'm gonna try out the Saito .72 first.

I've got one in the box. It comes after the Primo 60 gets finished. The Sabre quality looks very good.

git-r-done wess, you'll love it!

floats like a mojo,stings like a chakk.

went with os55,13x4w,hs475's on surfaces,85mg throttle,6oz hayes,1100a123. its around 4lbs.

only tip i have is to make a small lite ply plate for the motor mount for the nuts to grab, the wood is softer than normal.
mine squished in a lot, 3 flights later and it loosend up. no biggie really.

Finally started this evening on putting this together. First thing I did was to clear out the Monokote from where the wing, servos, h.stab and servo wire holes. Some people like to use a soldering iron. Not me. I hate having to clean up my iron after I get done. I use a piece of 3/32 music wire heated up. I also have better control of this, than the soldering iron. It also seals the edges when it melts the covering.

Next part I did was to install the h.stab. I didn't take pictures of cutting the covering off, as I figure most people probably know how to do this by now. One neat thing that I learned from the designer, was to use canopy glue around your seams, once you have glued the surface in. He recommended doing one side and waiting an hour and doing the other side; however, I'm fairly impatient and went right ahead and did both sides! This canopy glue will dry virtually clear and make your seam sort of disappear. When I first put the canopy glue on the plane, it looked very poor, so I had to improvise right quick. I made a grout tool out of a piece of 1/16 balsa and 150 grit sand paper. Sounds odd, but it makes the seam look great. Try it!

That's all I have to offer for today. The canopy glue that I'm using is from Pacer.

Got a cool idea for push rods as well. I won't be using the supplied pushrods, as I like this new method.

hey wess, i didnt use the supplied tank or pushrods either.

went to the hobby shop, got some 2/56 rod w/threaded end, some carbon tube to sleeve the 2/56 rod, glued with a couple drops of rubberized ca, i think it is .125"carbon tube? used the dubro hd locking clevis on the surface side, servo side made a 'L' bend with a keeper. works great, supper stiff, pretty lite.

All that's left is to mount the engine....which of course will be a YS .63. In the mean time, I've been seriously thinking about getting another one to put in my closet for bad times.

Check the profile brotherhood.
Wess has an E-version, waiting on the video.
I'll probably get one and put my new outrunner in it.

Just don't come here much any more. Rather spend time on the PB site or RCG or Helifreak...

I do have a new video up on the PB site. Come check it out. Can't post the link here, because RCU won't let me post of link to the PB site...not peanut butter either.

I flew mine with a Saito 72. The Sabre is light and the 72 is plenty. This is a lot of plane for the money it is being sold for, and it's a hardcore 3Ders type of plane with no bad habits.

This is my first plane that even resembles anything 3D.
Maybe the .82 will save me at time or two before I crash it.
I have a Saito 72 on a GP Revolver. I imagine that plane would enjoy the extra power of the .82. Maybe I'll trade them out sometime....

That .82 will be fine on there. If it's already on there, leave it alone!
