Default Lateral balance and wingtip weight ....

Greetings, I added two little 7gram square weights to the left wingtip to offset the weight of the Saito 82. Did someone once make a case for this being a bad idea because it puts the "mass" out further on the wing than the engine does on the other side and could cause some hessitation for start/stopping the roll or something? Wouldn't that be better than having one side heavier than the other though?

Thanks for any input!

Ernie

I suggest that there's no need to "over-think" this. Static-balance the plane laterally with the small weights at the wing tip, and go have fun. The small dynamic imbalance that remains because of the different size/location of the weights is mostly noticed in peoples' imaginations. There are alot ofotherthings that have a greater effect on the starting and stopping of rolling maneuvers.

Thanks Jyro, I'm always just interested in the underlying theories of things.   Do you really fly a jyrocopter?
