looking at getting a OMP PRO YAK
This will be my first profile, I have a 50cc yak and I was wanting something to help me get better at 3D flying so I dont plant my big yak. My question is, I have a 46AX but i was looking at getting the combo with the 55. Does the the 55 make that much of a difference?I herd lots of good things about the profiles but never tried one. That and I want a smaller plane that I can fly in a smaller space. Any help would be great, Thanks James

I think the 46AX is more than enough to get you started, but the problem I had with it was too much torque roll. So I switched to the 55AX with a 13x4 Zoar prop. Now I have better pull out power, quicker spool up and less torque roll. So if you can afford the 55AX go for it, but if not, 46 will be good. Also I never tried a 12x4 Xoar on the 46AX, it might be a good combo.

With the bigger and lighter Xoar 13x4 on the 55AX vs the smaller and heavier APC 12.25x3.75 on the 46AX there is a huge difference in how much the plane wants to torque roll. There might not be too much torque roll for a novice 3D flyer, but for beginners the less torque roll the better. You wont have to worry about using the ailerons so much to fight off the torque roll and can focus more on throttle use and rudder elevator inputs.

If you are a 3D beginner, you will want the extra power of a 55AX to get you out of trouble. I've flown both and it really is a noticeable difference.

I am new to 3D, I've been flying my 50cc yak, but I still like to stay around 40 ft or higher. I still cant hold a hover for to long with out either climbing or the nose wanting to fall over. Will the 46 pull it straight up out of a hover or do you have to drop the nose to pull out?

Has anyone tried one of these or seen one. How are they. Any thoughts on them. My LHS has one for sale. http://cgi.ebay.com/46-55-Acro-F3A-3...item20adc51244 What do you think?

Do yourself a favor and get an OMP Fusion if you like that style and the Fusion will 3D great as well as pattern.

RE: looking at getting a OMP PRO YAK
After watching me fly my OMP 65" Yaks and letting quite a few guys fly them using my two JR 10 X's set up in the pilot link mode. Two of my buddy's just ordered two of the 47" V3 Pro Yak Arf's with the OS AX 55 combo. I guess I'll just keep flying my 47" Omp V1 Pro Yak Arf. One of them is going to have me build his for him, so I'll get to try the new one soon. LOL!!! I enjoy being the Chief test pilot at our club.

Your right about that Mike. I'm sure you get to do the same. Some times I'll go to the field to see what is going on, and end up flying all day long with out even taking a plane with. LOL!!!
