Lets See Some Fun Fly Plane Pics
Foamguy, would you believe that my speed control and reciever from the Pietenpol still work. I don't know about the battery or the servo's yet as they are at home. Two planes soaked and as far as I know everything still works. Oh, on FMS I'm gettting really good at Hovering. The E3D should be done in the next couple of days (work will slow down as I have a big test on Tuesday)

Thunder Tiger Fun Tiger Extra ARC (My Patriot Fun Tiger)
1 Attachment(s)
Thunder Tiger Fun Tiger Extra ARC OS FX .46 with Mac's Tune Pipe. Well over 20 hours of covering. Just before its second flight I stupidly shut off my TX while it was running. (I wanted to reset the timer the quick way). Plane went out of control and turned back on the work bench -- took out the right wing. I'll have it repaired as good as new soon. My entry into the Patriotic Fever started with Sept 11th. |

Figured we needed an action shot up here. This was taken today at lunchtime, just before it started to sprinkle/sleet/snow. This plane is just sweet, I love it.....

Copy of my Menace
Itchy, when you asked how I built my Menace and what mods I did I didn't think it would end up being copied, colors and all.

Re: knife

Action, OK This is my buddy Steve at the NCFFA Nats 2001.
Two things make this shot. First, Steve is the one with the color coordinated cast and second, that's the topside of a loop(360) T&G. Good job Steve! |

PaulSwany ,
That Knife was covered in Micafilm grey primer. Painted with Pactra rc car paint. I cut the drip masking from mac-tac (shelf paper) and painted the drips first, then the metallic blue, clearcoted with K&B. It was quite a bit of work, I did rush the job a bit so it would be ready for a fun fly event. The next one I'll use the Parma Fascolor, not sure if I'll clearcote it again tho'. L8R |

How did you do the orange highlights around the drips?

PaulSwany, I just used an airbrush. First painted the neon yellow, then neon red on the edges. I learned my painting techniques from painting rc car lexan bodys.
And now for something different. These are designs and built by Brian Felice. 91 4 stroke powered, 5 lb, 1000+ sq. in wing area. Fuse is detachable behind the wing. More pics on his site, Brian Felice |

Rocketman, that does look fun to fly, but its not a funfly, the Kaos is a pattern plane.

My Sig SE

Here is my Sig SE.
This is my first fun-fly type plane, heck, this is my first kit plane. I have flown it 4 or 5 times and like it. I haven't done many named manuevers yet, (not on purpose anyway) just been banging the sticks around trying to get a feel for it. O.S FX 46 W/stock muffler 11 x 5 apc prop Added 1 1/2" to rudder Weight 5 lb. 3 oz. Balances at 4 5/16" (3 1/2 on plans) Used Stock gear w/Dave Brown Lite Flite 3" wheels I have 2 5/8" clearance from prop to floor Futaba 8UAPS radio Landing gear info: I purchased a gear from TNT for a SE. when I received it they sent a standard 60 size with it by mistake. The 60 gear was actually lighter than the SE gear. The height (5") and width (12") are nearly identical. the SE gear was wider where it bolts to the plane. I kept the 60 and returned the SE gear. Stock SE gear: 70.4g (2.483 oz.) TNT std. 60 gear: 95.7g (3.375 oz.) TNT SE gear: 108.6g (3.830 oz.) I may put the TNT back on when the grass grows. Gary VanFossen Stuarts Draft VA |

Its such a shame Sig had to mount the engine like that so the oil residue gets all over the side of the plane. It couldnt have been that difficult for them to make it a side mount engine?? BTW: I know of a few peeps who cut the side cheek off and side mounted their engines.
oh well.... |

I wish I had done that with mine. It would have been a fairly simple modification, and with a small amount of effort, I could have made a simple cowl for a really nice nose. Not only does it get on the side, but it gets all over my clear canopy, which to me looks worse than running down the opaque sides. and wing. Tim |
