February 25-26, 2012 Phoenix Race
I was just reminded to get ready for the next Phoenix Q40 race. [8D]
Who's planning to attend the February 25-26, 2012 Q40 Race?
I've got to get a backup airplane ready. Here's a few pictures of my Stinger.

You can kind of see it in the pic with both benches, it is against the wall behind the epoxy and cab-o-sil bag. no fancy aluminum molds here.

The last wing is in the bag, should have all three of these ready for paint by end of weekend.
I am excited that one of them is going to Super T with Jett powerHe still has his first F1 that I gave him over 20 years ago hope this one lasts also.... Man were getting old!

Closer and closer. Paint the next couple of weekends then back to the car project. It has been a nice little break from the car but I have 5 1/2 months until the debut car show in Pismo Beach and 6 months of work left.

Looks like you are catching up and will have a fleet of racers soon.
Here are a few pictures on the progress on my backup airplane.
A new Q40 class wing is being built to replace the original.
The model is Duane Gall's Stinger. It is an older design that flies great. Hopefully the model will become available again.

Hello Sam,
Did you build a Q40 like you were talking about? What is it?
Yes it is some work but one of them is for Travis and he gave me a picture of one of his old school F1s that Jimmy Shinohara built for him. I am going to copy that paint scheme should be fun. I will be bringing them down to the guys at winterfest so will see you there.
Sahartman, I always thought the Stinger was a cool looking plane. I remember it back in the old F1 days.

Those look awesome guys... I am so glad to see that the removal of static judging has not kept the models from being beautiful! All of that work and to be put where it could be lost in a blink. Or at least mine could.

Hey Dave,
No, not yet. It's still in the design phase and doing research with different airfoils etc. Although I have a used one to race with and be there to have to some fun with it.
Great job building and see you at the race!

Great looking Birds Marty. Lyle can definitely sling some clear.
Garys,
Just be careful who you bench race with, Fast Eddie Jump has smoked more Utah racers then he will probably admit too. You'll just be another notch on his flight line box.
Got your back Eddie, just like you told me on the phone, Gary is a total HeeHaw, HeeHaw. You can take him with ease.

AJ,
I'm not worried...since being overseas I've developed a new attitude....if you can't beat 'em, bell-crank 'em! I'm going to fly it like I stole it!
