Wichita Ks. Q500-Q40 Races
The crew from Wichita has scheduled a Q500, Q40 race for mid Sept. For all of us racers that live in the middle of the country, it will be nice to have a Q40 race that is not such a logistical challenge. The closest Q40 race for the Kansas City guys is in Muncie, 9 hours away. For me personally, I've been to Phoenix, OJA, Cinn and Muncie twice this year to get my Q40 fix. So the drive over to Wichita won't be bad at all. This race is smack dab in the middle of the country. So everyone get out your map, gps or smart phones and see how far away Wichita is from you. Hopefully, we can get racers from all points.
Sept 14-16 Lake Afton, Goddard KS. Practice starts after noon on Friday. 424,426 (short course) on Sat. 422 only on Sun so those who are traveling can get an early start home. We will be using the light system from KCRC. Magnum fuel provided. Camping at field. Info @ www.wichitaradiocontrolclub.org

Count me in for this race. I've got to run my new AJ-2's.
FYI - The following are approximate travel durations (According to mapquest):
1) Albuquerque - 9 hours 40 minutes
2) Fritch Texas - 5 hours 53 minutes
3) Oklahoma City - 2 hours 32 minutes
4) Kansas City - 2 hours 55 minutes
It takes me about an hour longer than estimated, but you get the point.
Let's Race!

Kevin Matney and I will be there.
Kevin may win the most miles travelled award. He is on the road now.
I will travel tomorrow.
We plan to practice all classes on Thursday and Friday.

RE: Wichita Ks. Q500-Q40 Races
After a slow start yesterday, due to low visibility and drizzle, the 424 and 426 racing went on with some excellent racing.
Today the faster models will be brought out for some 422 (Q40) racing.
Let the racing continue! [8D]

RE: Wichita Ks. Q500-Q40 Races
Thanks Paul, Mike and all the Wichita crew for putting on a great race. As Scott said we had a late start on Saturday with a low ceiling and some drizzle but after that cleared up we got some good racing in. Sunday started out a little overcast put cleared up and was a beautiful day to race.
For those of you that haven't been to the Lake Afton field you should come out next year. It's a great field to fly at with a nice 500 + foot asphalt runway with a grass runway right next to that, a wide open area to fly in and great workers.

I'd like to add my thanks to the Wichita crew, things went very smoothly, lunch was good both days, and there were some great races!
Also, thanks to Duane Hulen for hauling down and setting up, and helping with the judgeman light system, and to Lonnie for helping make sure that stuff was working throughout the races!
