I'm still a Race Rookie but it looks like an old Formula 1 Racer with a .40 Nelson. But like I said. I could be wrong.

Tsunami. Probably an old Jim Gager kit, but not 100% sure on that. One of the very first Q40 designs in the early 90's.

it is a tsunami and it is a nelson motor I picked this up locally and I haven't been able to find any info on it like where the cg should be who it was made by or how they fly. it has everything in it except the battery and receiver it looks to have never been flown I pulled the tank to check out the lines and the condition and everything looks good The maiden flight will be sunday if everything goes to plan not sure on the throws but I flown a few of these style planes before and I know you don't need much and I will have duel rates setup

Sorry but it is definitely not a Tsunami! I have a Tsunami and have been flying it for a year now. The Tsunami has angled wing tips and this one has straight one. The canopy is much farther forward on the tsunami beginning around the leading edge. The rudder on the Tsunami is very steeply raked. This one is not at all. Don't know what it is though.

Here is a picture of one.

No doubt, his plane is the Q40 Tsunami. Even painted with the "wave" on the tail like the
original plane. There were also QM15's of the plane, still have one in the garage.
See Wikipedia article on the original plane, Reno Racer

Maxtenet...two different airplanes. The Tsunami you have is in no way scale, just a sport plane that Direct Connection made. The Tsunami Q40 is based on the full scale Tsunami unlimited air racer from the late 80's to early 90's.

Just to add a little to the story of the full scale Reno Racer, "Tsunami." It was based on a P51 Mustang, and crashed killing the pilot when a flap came off the airplane on a landing approach. Max, you just got caught up in name game. How many airplanes have been given the name "Mustang"? I can think of at least 5 full scale Mustangs, and if you go around the world, and then add all the models with the name, that in no way resemble the origional North American Aviation P-51 Mustang there's probabably 100's! When my son was 5 years old he told some friends he had built a Quickie. They were home built aviation people, so the knew he was BS-ing thinking that he was telling them that he hat built a Burt Rutan Quickie. Actually he was BS-ing telling them that he had built a Glen Spickler Quickie 500. Either way he was busted for lying!

Minor nitpick, but Tsunami wasn't based on a Mustang at all. The general layout was similar, but it was 100% scratch built.

Lownverted. My bad. I was going by memory which my wife tells me is broken. I thought the Tsunami had a modified P-51 wing?

My mistake! I didn't recognize the plane as one of the Reno racers!

So, did you fly the Tsunami yet ?

Is it legal for Q-40 ?

Always been my favorite airplane...

The airplane has flown it flew well with no issues its fun to pull out from time to time to fill the need for speed.
