Default Medford Oregon North/south Shootout Race

The Medford Oregon race is over, and we all had a great time. There was a total of 34 entries, a good turn out for this area, especially when you consider this is the first North South Shootout race in 8 years. The weekend started out with a BBQ, & get together for all, at the Del Ponte’s Friday night. Saturday AM got going with some great racing, & perfect weather. Tom DeAscentis & family, took care of the lunch break, with grilled hot dogs, etc, & then more racing. After 5 rounds & three classes of racing, Saturday ended with a huge BBQ, put on by John Colwell & family, at the field. The Colwell, DeAcentis, Aiello, Salas, families, all pulled together, and put on the best dinner, we had ever seen at a race....Steak, & all the trimmings, desert, etc. Dave Ferrell was CD on Saturday, with help from his wife Alice. As usual, Dave ran a perfect race. Both the Medford, and Klamath falls clubs, pulled together, and provided more than enough workers, for both days. The talented, Judi Del Ponte, handled the microphone duties for the weekend, & what a Pro she is. Mike Del Ponte was CD on Sunday, more perfect weather, and another 5 rounds, of three classes was completed by 3m. Joe DeAscentis & Danny Stanton, provided transportation, too, and from, the flight line. Special thanks to Peter Goldsmith, & JR Horizon, for donating all the radio equipment, for our new wireless, radio controlled, light system. This system worked flawlessly, & the lights were very quick. Also special thanks to Kai Aiello, for his genius in creating, & fine tuning the system. We would like to thank all the pilots that traveled, and made this such a successful race. They came from Arizona, Southern & Northern California, Washington, Oregon, etc. We are spreading the word, and are looking forward to an even bigger race next year. Here are the race results...
