Default Ls or ss?

Outside differences? Or do I need to just measure the stroke?
Somebody know the stroke specs?
Thanks,
Jake

Default RE: Ls or ss?

Are you asking what the differences are between the SS and LS engines? just curious or what? any time you want to know specifics about a Nelson engine, you can email Dave Shadel at Performance Specalties.

The long stroke has:

smaller bore, this smaller diameter piston
longer stroke ( big guess, but I think the stoke is .790 )
taller case to accomodate longer stroke (I think the case is .080 taller?)
new carb
new back plate
new head design (both inside cut, and head fins)

Hope that helps. ??

Check the muffler, it should say "LS" on it near where it bolts on.

post a pic of your engine. The SS engine is easy to install a plug with your fingers(short head fins) the LS has "taller head fins" and can be a bit of a challenge to install the plug with your fingers and the back plate only mounts/installs in one position,,, get it wrong and you'll ruin the engine when you hit it with the starter

I believe the original LS motors had the short head fins also, that wasn't added till about a year after the LS came out??

That's true DN... the best way to tell is pull the back plate and look for the 2 notches that allow the piston to clear. The short stroke didn't have that.
