Default Q-40 Sport Photo Gallery

Q-40 Sport is starting to get a following. Some guys are already flying Q-40 Sport planes and others are building them.

I'm starting this thread as a place for photos of the Q-40 Sport planes.

The Q-40 Sport rules are not fully set yet. But basically it comes down to any Q-40 legal airframe with a Thunder Tiger Pro 40 engine. The proposed prop rule is any commercially available prop over 8" in diameter. There will be no idle requirement. Let's discuss rules in another thread and keep this thread just for the photos.

I have 80+ flights on my Stinger and have been primarily using a APC 9X6 sport prop to keeping it in-line with the 424 rules. It accelerates well, has more speed than a Q500, Looks cool [sm=shades_smile.gif] and allows for easy take off from grass [sm=wink_smile.gif].

I even like the idea of keeping the 9/6 prop rule like 424. Adds even that much more consistency to the event.

I have an older Nemesis that I'm going to put the TT40 in, after I get new tail feathers made for the plane (hangar rash, old '89 suburban doors and tail feathers don't mix..)

SAHartman has a couple of Q40 sports - a stinger and an AJ-2. He was kind enough to let me fly his AJ2 at a race in Wichita, made me want to get one going!

I've got 2 Q-40 sport models.

1) I put a Thunder Tiger Pro 40 on a Matney's Models AJ-2. This is an excellent flying model with either a TT 40 or a 422 engine (shown here). I demoed it in Wichita and Kansas City with the TT 40.

2) The other model is the Stinger from the construction article. This model is a natural for Q-40 sport. It is also an excellent flying model. Don is selling this kit and others.
