Default Polar Pylon Race Restrictions?

Vic, all ready for the Polar Pylon Q25 race in Hickory, NC tomorrow but have a problem. I’ve heard that the AMA rules state a RC model is not allowed to fly faster than 200 MPH without a special sanction. Will I be disqualified if my Q25 breaks 200mph on the back stretch?[sm=50_50.gif]

Bob, I have some SPF .25FXAXLS if you need as well as bug spray.
You will really like the improvements that have been done at our field.

RC, he heard it in the AMA forums but didn't see it anywhere. I was unaware that there would be racers from Texas coming? You might want to read the SPRA rules so you are in compliance. The flyer BOB attached contains most of what you need to know.

Besides, we are good to go with an AMA sanction for this event, they know and approve of what we are doing.

i would luv to give you guys a race but i have a cold from hell right now. sinius headache causing double vision.

the only ama rule about the 200 mph speed limit is in the turbine savety form where all turbine (only at this moment) have any speed limit turbines are limited to 200 mph.

many times i hear about the myticial 200 mph speed limit. nowhere is it listed either by ama, faa, or any other orginization at this moment. i have to be very uptodate on this issue as i am working on an airplane for the 10cc fai speed record. am on the 3rd itteration now. current 2 way pass is 211+ by a russian back in the early 70's. problem is that was by stop watch and manual operation. now it must be electronic.

Hate to break the news to you Wes, but the record may have been bumped up to 242.7 mph by a German team, while the record is currently ratified at 237.6 mph.

Dag CAMMANN-WALCZAK (GER), Hartmut Schulze (Germany) are the guys that did it last September.

i hope not. i am going to the fai records site now to check. i do know people have claimed one way but the 2 way electronic pass is the killer.

not good but i still may make it... it has not been certified as of yet 242.35 is going to be tough.

the updated certified record was raised to 237.65 i am going to request the records on both runs
the aircraft i have questions as to it meeting specs as published by the fai for f3d piston open speed.

all said i must say well done to the people that got that speed.

Wes,
We have the event for you my man! In June we hold the Carolina Speed Rally. Not as uptight as the FAI Guys but fast and fun for sure. Last year Bill J pulled 211. So far thats the fastest guy we've had. Do a search and read all about the previous three rallies. You can also see some pics and vid on the Carolian Speed Rally facebook page and the SPRA.org website.

All I can say is bring it on.
