    RE: Next Hodges Hobbies Race

We had a good race yesterday. The rain held off until the race was over but
the wind got stronger as the race progressed.
Club 40 flew first, they flew 7 rounds, I do not remember any crashes. Very few cuts and a good
time was had by all. While the Club 40 guys race, the Quickee 424 guys work the race course.
Then we swap when 424 races.
Club 40 finished by lunch time and after the lunch/pizza break, we flew 7 rounds of Quickee.
There was some very tight racing and unfortunately, quite a bit of carnage. We will pretend
that was due to it being the first race of the year and rusty thumbs/equipment.
Mike Stevens had his radio go out on his first heat race and his plane was unfortunately
toast. The wind got stronger as the day progressed and by the end of the day, we were wondering
if we should call it quits before finishing the race. However, we did keep on racing and
finished 7 rounds. Mac Hodges and I mid-aired with each other 2 times at the same spot
on the race course (both times coming out of #1 pylon). I am certainly going to work on
staying out of traffic during races. There were racers from 5 states that entered and it looked
as if everyone had fun. Thanks to Mac for continuing to support racing.
    Club 40 results **** 3 pole short course ***
1st Wayne Thompson 1:53 fast time
    2nd Al Meaney
    3rd Dustin Yawn
    4th Rob Jones
    5th Steve Schuler
    6th Heath Gove
    7th John Spaller
    Quickee 424
    1st Sam Shimizu
    2nd Robin Drake
3rd Brad Clayton 1:25 fast time
    4th Mac Hodges
    5th Mike Rutchka
    6th Dave Torre
    7th Greg Doe
    8th Bill Brewer Jr
    9th Mike Stevens
Looking forward to the next race. Mike Stevens reports that work
is progressing on the electronic (judgeman) race system, maybe it
will be ready by the next race.
