R200 Electric
This is my new (built from salvaged parts and some stuff from the hobby store called balsa wood?) Q500 Right now ready to go it weighs 2lbs 15oz ,less batteries. Can't give any more data until I read the flite recorder in the control module

First flight went well I used a 10/7 electric prop The controller said the RPM was 14,200 at the start and dropped to 13,500 The flight lasted 4 minutes This motor is a E Flite P46 which is rated for 670KV so with 6 cells the max Rpm would be 15,000 I think I'll try a 11/8 prop on the next flite when my new batteries get here and the weather gets better It looks like a standard Q500 setup could be used very easily All I did was make the nose longer and make a hatch so the batteries can be plugged in quick like One interesting thing the power was up to 630 watts on takeoff and the never got over 300 for the rest of the flite With a good set of batteries a short Q500 race would be very doable

Read your post on the electric Q-500, figured I would share some of the work my friend Rich Berner and I have done so far. We are hoping to get electric Q-500 going here in the northeast. Our goal is to match 424 Thunder tiger class racing. The results have been great so far, costs fairly low as well
Motor Eflite 25 870 kpv version
Batteries 5S 3000 40C Zippy Flightmax
Castle 60-80 speed control
Prop APC 9X9E
Flying wieght, performance is almost identical to a 424 Q-500. You can convert any existing Q-500 in a couple of hours. EF-1 around by us has not caught on, poor supply of planes and generally the sport electric guys don't care for the way the ARF flies. The Q-500 has been very well received-you are on the right track.

Yes converting a Q500 quite easy I put some holes in the firewall to get air to the batteries since they are in the place where the fuel tank is I also make a hatch so I don't have to take the wing off and then leave the cover where the servos are off so the air can fow through the fuse and out The motors I have been using are the E Flite P46 and the Rimfire 46 I think the E Flite is made for large props and the Rimfire is a smaller prop I think you can easily match a TT engine My first attempt last year was clocked at 128 MPH With glow fuel at $25 a gallon If you don't abuse your batteries you can get many flights on them I have a Li Po that I use in my Zagi that is 6 years old I was out last week it still works well
