.60 size quickie 500
I've been thinking about doing one strictly as a trainer or stepping stone for a smaller version. Anyone have a picture or possibly plans for something like this? I thought it would a fun and unique project for my first scratch build project☺ Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Jim

Would suggest a $100 viper 500 first with a 53 rossi or something of that nature, I flew like this for a while before getting into the composites which are costly if you lay one in,
OR
Get yourself a 60 size KAOS and stick a dub jett 60 in it - a bit more cost but plane should do 140 mph

I enlarged a Spickler Q-500 plane to .60 size. Wing chord is 12" with wing area around 700 sq". I played with the nose and tail moments a bit to get it to balance right. It flies great with a ST X.60 on it. I took the original size plans to a print shop the they enlarged them for me.

Thanks. I have always liked how the Spickler Quickies fly. I have .15 and .25 size ones in the works also.
A plane that is very similar to a .60 size Q-500 is the RCM Basic .60. Here is the plan and construction article.

If you enlarge a Q-500 plan by 20% you will have a 12" chord wing with a 60" span for 720 sq" wing area which is what I used on mine. Most print shops can enlarge the plan for you.
